The Official "Lost" the series discussion

I figured I would start a thread for this and see what happens....there seemed to be quite a few viewers on the board for this show the past few weeks.....I like the direction the show is taking so far......episode 3 tonight at 7 central on ABC....

I understand that when all the questions are answered, the show's dead. But, I expected that they'd throw us a bone or two tonight.

I actually didn't expect too many answers -- not from this show. But I did expect the plot to move along more. The hatch thing didn't advance it at all -- they popped the top and ... there's a shaft. Big deal. Still at square one.

Yea im a little disappointed. The hatch plot should have been advanced more by now. I liked the pirates kidnapping Walt though. So is Sawyer dead? I hope not. I hope this show doesnt turn into the "X-Files" all setup and tease with zero payoff.

Except that wasn't the end of the season because they've got some "secret scene" they are showing tomorrow morning.

The monster thing was another Jyp. They never explained WTF it was or even hinted at it? Sounds mechanical though obviously from the sound effects.

That was a big disappointment. The best they could come up with was a bunch of modern day NAMBLA pirates riding in a modern fishing boat with handguns and incindiary devices?

Why would anyone expect answers on the season finale. This is not some Desperate Housewives that pander to the masses and explain everything in a neat and tidy manner. This is LOST damn it. A thinking man's show. One that leads a viewer to take what they see and then draw their own conclusions of why or what might happen.

So they left us with these thoughts to ponder...

Are the people that took Walt the "others" that Rousseau was talking about and was Walt the boy they were coming for and not the baby?

Is Charlie going to become an addict again now that he has an unlimited supply of drugs.. he did take a statue with him evidently

What the hell is in the hatch?

Is Sawyer dead? Will the raft guys be able to float on what is left of the raft and make it back to camp or will they make it to antoher part of the island to introduce another group of survivors?

Are the guys on the boat actually the other members of Rosseaus team? Maybe she never really killed them.

What the hell was that monster?

So many more things to think about until next season. I like the no answers way they make this show. It keeps you coming back and keeps the office hopping with ideas and thoughts.

Randomness...

Hurley's rental car died at 42 KM. The temp read 23C. As it died, the speedo read 16, 15, 8, 4.

The girls in the soccer uniforms as Hurley tries to make the flight (right after he buys the cart from the old guy) have the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42.

The flight left gate 23.

You can give some answers, some clues and still have some things remain unanswered. See Deadwood for an example of an excellent season finale.

Because it's the same Spanish language comic book Walt found and was reading on the island in an earlier episode.
