Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

The Chiefs have been in the playoffs THREE time since 1997. It's now 2013.

PLEASE explain how "that is their audience".

Oh, that's right: You won't.

You'll just attempt to throw more shit on top of your other shit and hope that no one notices.

Busted.

Sounds like they've foung their business model to me. Just keep bringing in slapdick after slapdick, never draft a legit prospect at the QB position, and hope the faithful "Keep On Truckin" like it was 1971! And if they revolt; apply appropriate band-aid measures.

Really? Then you're dumber than I thought if you believe the "business model" is to win between 2 and 4 games a season.

If we sold 5 tickets last year and 10 tickets this year, what percentage of change would that be?

Their audience is 7-9 to 9-7, where they are just good enough to keep the fans from getting their hearts broke in the playoffs.

That is what this city wants, that is what this franchise strives for... Its not rocket science. You dont make moves for Alex Smith if you are serious about building a winner. You make these types of moves to cater to your stupid fan base...

So you're saying the most likely outcome of a team continually trying to find a franchise QB early in the draft, having said draft pick flame out with the team in position to draft another early QB pick is good business sense in the long run?

This is of course, if you accept the premise that the trend is suggesting highly drafted QBs wind up winning Superbowls at some point in their careers.

The business model is to "compete", and to not be a laughingstock. Taking and making the bold, gutsy moves necessary to build a foundation that can realistically pursue championships year in and year out are CLEARLY not a part of the picture. Now, if you require further clarification, I'll sub-contract Penz to bust out the MS Paint, and DRAW THE MOTHER****ER FOR YOU?
