Your expectations for Alex Smith?

Let's say that the rumors of this franchise successfully trading cancer for AIDS is true. What will be your expectations for the 2013 Kansas City Chiefs?

Eh, the more you look at the draft, the easier it is to reach the conclusion that there isn't going to be a decent developmental QB at 34.

Geno and Barkley are the only 2 with immediate starter ability, IMO. Manuel may get there, but I could see him not getting to 34. Glennon and Nassib are crap, Bray...you're talking a 1 in 3 shot of actually hitting on him, at best.

I don't see anything to suggest that the Chiefs will come away with a legitimate developmental QB at 34. They're more likely to end up stuck in a malaise for 1/2 a decade only to have to bottom out again and put us through this shit all over again in 2017.

Dumb yet we are talking Chiefs track record here in the playoffs. I don't give a **** what he did as a 9er.

Smith was passed over by Seattle, who played him 2x year. He was passed over by Miami. He was passed over by Cleveland, and the Jets.

Thirty two teams had a shot at an adequate starting QB and not one thought he was good enough. It isn't just a matter of Smith v. Kaepernick, it's the 49ers saying for multiple offseasons, "We don't trust this guy" and the entire NFL echoing that sentiment last year.
2011 his red zone woes were very worrisome

that's his big knock from me right now...average arm, needs to get better in the red zone

as for Peyton ****ing Manning

it's Peyton ****ing Manning and the 49ers had an elite defense with elite playmakers and an elite line

pretty sure you can't hold that against Harbaugh or the 49ers for inquiring...

I mean, he's still a top 3 QB in the NFL...and I'm pretty sure Harbaugh wasn't in any rush to start Kaepernick until he saw him in a real game situation on MNF against a damn good Bears defense.

EITHER WAY WE GET IT, EVERYONE KNOWS IT...Smith is not a long term solution at QB and I highly doubt Reid/Dorsey are planning on making him one.

and if they do, THEN WE CAN ALL START CUTTING

Have I ever said any different? You seem to have an inability discerning my opinions from that of the board.

Eleven wins is a bullshit platitude. It's meaningless. It's also, by the definition of the purpose of competitive sports, not really "adequate".

Matt Schaub can do that too. He's not good enough. Neither are Tony Romo or Jay Cutler.

Geno Smith is a long term answer so there is no point in wasting time on Alex Smith when the future is there for the taking.

Last time I checked you have to play well in more than 1 playoff game to get to the Super Bowl. We've all seen Alex Smith have a good game. We've also seen Smith lose his starting job to one; Shaun Hill. Alex Smith is an inconsistent mess that accidentally has a good game once in a while when all the stars align.

No ****ing thanks on Alex Smith!

speaking of Shaun Hill

I'd rather have him. He really impressed me in Detroit when he filled in for Stafford a few years ago.

He was benched with a 6-2 record while leading the NFL in passer efficiency.

Let's not act like he got thrown out of the lineup. He got hurt and when he did, Kaepernick seized the reigns like you would hope for from a great QB and never looked back.

And as for the 'entire NFL' not trusting him, well many of those front offices were lead by guys that though Matt Cassel or Ryan Fitzpatrick where the keys to winning championships, so I'm not real swayed by bad teams not recognizing a better QB situation. Nor am I surprised that 1/2 the NFL realized they had a better QB situation.

Shaun Hill is a good backup QB. He'd be a fine addition. The problem is our fanbase's obsession with equating backup to "Hey, he could be our guy."

I'd rather have Hill be our stopgap and take Geno #1. That is something I would have been on board for.

I just hope they don't give Smith an extension before he plays this season.

If they do that then I'm right on board with the "we're ****ed" crew.

It's like I'm in hell and they keep playing the same cruel joke on me.
