-- My car's timing chain snapped two weeks ago
The Audi's timing chain went about two weeks ago - Oddly it happened after the dealer had it (the next morning from getting it back, actually) - It really doesn't matter - you have no legs vs. a dealer and besides they'd have to dissect the engine to access that area. So in this case I actually do think it was just a mere coincidence.

Anyhow; ?? I'm wondering if anyone has recovered a vehicle from this timing chain issue ?? - again it's an 06 Audi A4 3.2

I bought a really fast vehicle & all - but black'ey can't be buried yet.

anyone else gone through this? I forget the details regarding the engine's structural assembly. There are two types - one where you're basically in a repairable situation or two - you're ****ed.

ya, this is correct. unfortunately SR, I would suggest you cut to the fix and have somebody replace the motor with a used motor. I'd expect to pay 6 - 7 grand total.

How so? With an “interference” engine yes it is very likely a death sentence, and being an Audi DOHC V-6 it’s most likely an interference engine.

Blew the ****ing engine. Worthless.

Purchased a 91 Honda Civic SI and loved that car. Perhaps more than any other relationship I've ever been in. When I parted with it I felt guilt.

Sadness and guilt.

Finally sold it and purchased a 98 Civic and I still live with and despise this POS vehicle...

Looking through Craigslist, there are a ton of Hondas on there that got new engines around 120K miles, which is most likely from broken timing belts. Apparently people forget about this whole "routine maintenance" thing.
