Watching the broadcast of people running 40s is oddly fascinating for me. Just the stuff these announcers talk about, which seems just free flowing and not much producer interference.

Lache Seastrunk ran an awful line btw, with his eyes closed, which dropped his time.

Jerick McKinnon, Georgia Southern - QB/RB in college but 32 reps on bench press, 4.41 40 time, 40.5" vertical, and 11' broad jump. He had 3899 yards rushing in 4 season in college. He could also throw the ball on a trick play.

Nfldraftscout.com has him as a 6th round pick.

I'd like to have him with one of our 6th round picks.

I calculated the "Speed Score" for this yrs RBs.

Speed Score is Football Outsiders' metric for evaluating running back prospects. It's built on the simple idea that, because smaller backs tend to run faster than larger backs, we should be more impressed by a 4.5-second 40-yard dash from a 220-pound back than the same clock reading from a 170-pound back. As such, Speed Score incorporates a back's official time in the 40-yard dash with his weight to produce a measure of his speed given his size using the formula, (Weight * 200)/(40 time^4). As a guide, we consider a 100 Speed Score 100 as average, with anything below 80 serving as a giant red flag, and anything above 120 serving as a giant neon sign.

To put this in context of our previously discussed prospect: Knile Davis' 124.5 Speed Score is off-the-charts good.

Highest speed scores this yr:
Damien Williams 113.23
Jerick McKinnon 110.52
Tyler Gaffney 108.26
George Atkinson 108.24

Honestly couldn't care less here... JC, Davis and someone basically capable is perfect for us.

No RB needed this year... lets fix some other areas in real need.

Agreed. Only one I would consider drafting is Dri Archer, and that's so I can move him to the slot and develop him as a slot receiver while allowing him to handle kick return duties.

Not even then, they already have a swiss army guy they can keep if they want to... no more "slash" guys, all purpose rb/wr/returner types.

McCluster doesn't even come close to being as fast or explosive as Archer. Archer doesn't get tackled from behind by Vontae Davis in the playoff game like McCluster was.

Wheras Dri will jump cut backwards 7 yards, run 3 more negative yards while spanning 27 yards across the field to jump cut again up field for 5 more yards before he dives under the tackler, avoiding a big hit.

I could see the chiefs bringing in Damien Williams as part of their local pro day. He has the size that Dorsey likes, and had the highest speed score among RBs. He can pass block as well as catch out of the backfield.

As a local proday participant they can get a feel for why he was dismissed from OU and whether they are comfortable with drafting him. I wouldnt be suprised if they used a 6th round pick on him.

Total homer pick.....and this is coming from someone who was disappointed with how he was utilized at ND. I wouldn't be upset with Atkinson III in the 6th round.
