Especially,
Hall. Gave a spark to our return game that we haven't had since Vanover was scoring 3 times a year. He gives me that feeling that Tamarick used to, that he could bust one at any given time. Saurbrun. Kickoffs to the goal line pretty consistently. Still needs another 5 yards but imagine if we had him kicking off last January 2nd. His punts had good distance, and his pooches were high, and not touchbacks (as I recall, correct me if I'm wrong) That one to the two in the second half was a thing of beauty. Coverage. Except one pretty good punt return and I think one kickoff return, we held a dangerous return man in (Is Rogers the name?) pretty much in check. And did you see the aforementioned pooch punt to the two. Did anyone else notice who downed that ball? Kendall Gammon, the snapper got down there in a hurry. All in all I am pleased with the special teams performance last night. Obviously, they were not the dominant unit that was one of the Chiefs hallmarks through the 90's, but I'll take this performance against some of the crap shoots that went on last season. Oh, the obvious exception is Stoyo. The only thing special about him is his uncanny knack to consistently miss 37 yard field goals. |

I like it better than it was.... especially the real attempts at tackling.
However, I was disappointed to watch end men on defensive postures merely stand up and do nothing during fg's and point after attempts. I miss the days of Al Lewis running in and attempting a block on every single kick. |
