****Official 2013-14 Missouri Tiger Football Repository Thread****

We have two things to look forward to this year:

1) The potential beginning of the Maty Mauk Era. Mauk represents the best chance for this program to get back to a level of respectability after horrendous QB play cost us multiple games last year.

2) The last year of the Gary Pinkel era. Pinkel's entrenched cronyism won't play in a conference this competitive, especially if he couples his abysmal gameday coaching with lackadaisical, worst-in-conference recruiting. Pinkel was the formerly adequate meal that has now turned into a four pound bowel obstruction. It's time to jam a Fleet's enema up our collective asses.

Here is the schedule. We dodge Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas in the west and the Non-con is decidedly weaker than years past.

8/31: Murray State
9/7: Toledo
9/21: @ Indiana
9/28: Arkansas State
10/5:@ Vanderbilt
10/12: @ Georgia
10/19:Florida
10/26: South Carolina
11/2:Tennessee
11/9: @ Kentucky
11/23: @ Ole Miss
11/30: aTm

Looks like 6-6. Undefeated in non-con, 2-6 in league play.

I will eventually update the OP with a list of high profile in-state recruits that decide to go elsewhere after a half-assed attempt to gain their services. The inevitable cavalcade of *** rejects, skeezers, skanks, and scalliwags we get will fill out the ranks.

Razors, cyanide capsules, and Jonestown Kool-Aid are available in the break room. Second door on the left.

Since every Mizzou thread eventually dies of AIDS, I recommend starting anti-retroviral therapy immediately. I believe Walgreens covers Express Scripts.

Premium In-State Players:

Roderick Johnson: **** OT, Florissant, MO.
Monte Harrison: **** WR, Lee's Summit, MO.
Jimmy Swain: **** LB, Lee's Summit, MO

Commitment List: From to and possibly

Spoiler!

If there is one thing Mizzou has in spades, it's playmakers on offense. Hopefully Mauk can be a facilitator...just get the ball in their hands and let them do what they do.

It would be a nice time for DGB to explode onto the scene.

Missouri 41, Georgia 26: Beyond the box score

Great read with some advanced stats from the game. There is a chart in the middle of the article I don't think I can get to look right so I'll just post a link.

This gem was in the article though.

I don't recall that play specifically, but that was a terrible spot.

Sad thing is...if you go to a couple of the links on that page you see that the Bowl Projections from SB Nation still only have us going to the Gator Bowl and doing it as the SEC#6 team. Plus further down the page you see that the same prognosticator has South Carolina and Florida winning all their games the rest of the way out save for the game against each other.

Still no respect for MU....and I hope the team sees that and plays with a chip on their shoulder.

At the very least, we will have a much better expectation of what this team will look like for the next season or two. Mauk will likely be the starting QB for the next couple years unless he is worse than Berkstresser.

Hopefully we can beat UK and UT without Franklin (UK is almost as bad as kansas). If we can find a way to get at least one win against Florida, SC, Ole Piss, and A&M, then we will get to 9 wins, which I would be damn happy about.

9-3 in the SEC gets you to a pretty sweet bowl game and top 25 final ranking.

I believe that must have been on the drive where they scored a TD and missed the 2 pt conversion. Terrible spot but great play nonetheless.

I don't really see how Missouri loses to Florida, unless their new QB has a horrific performance (which isn't entirely out of the question).

That team should still be able to use their ZR concepts and given Franklin>Mauk athletically, the ball is placed in one of their stellar RBs hands more often (depending on how Florida decides to S/E).

I think you're going to be surprised by Mauk's athleticism. He's Not as strong as Franklin, but he's quicker and faster.

Franklin vs. Mauk is an interesting athletic comparison.

Mauk is actually pretty fast and quick - he was an Ohio track star. He's obviously not going to shed tacklers like Franklin, but he might be more likely to make them miss.

It will be interesting to see how Mauk does in the run game. If he's decisive, he should be effective (and I imagine Florida will not be keying on him, at least early, since there is practically no tape on him running the football.

Really?

I mean, you all are deservedly ranked higher, the game's at home, and you should be favored. But to say you don't see how Mizzou could lose to Florida, IMO, is asinine. Florida still has talent all over the field and a stellar defense.

I see plenty of ways Mizzou loses this game. It should be a really ugly one.

Tickets just became available, as Florida has returned part of their allotment. They aren't going to have much of a cheering section...

This is going to be the farthest north Florida has played since the early nineties, IIRC.
