We do ours in five gallon roasters and 20 gallons at a time. The shit part is hot packing all those jars. Jars or lids that fail and getting all that water back up to temp blows.

The cheap Walmart jars are the worst when it comes to jar failure. When you take em from the hot dish washer to the hot pack station they cool enough that they shatter in the boiling water. Pain in the Ass. Mainstay brand.

We bought our house at the end of last year and are now working on the outside. The people before us didn't do much which stands out negatively because it is a nice neighborhood with most people taking pride in their yard. So yesterday we did our first planter. It was simple and a small job but it makes a big difference. It was incredibly windy yesterday so all the flowers have been blown sideways. Here are the before and after pictures.

Oh well. |

That $3it looks like you let your kid decorate a 4 ft stretch of lawn. Where do you live? (NE, SE, MW, W, etc...)

Just finished expanding and tierring the garden this weekend. We have a ton of space this year, so we'll have:
2 types of tomatoes, 3 peppers, cantalope, 2 kinds of potatoes, onions, cucumbers, and I'm sure the wife will come up with more. Also, we have a herb garden with chives, rosemary, oregano. Tried Cilantro one year, but basically it doesn't continue to yield and you are left with carraway seeds or something. We just buy our cilantro, cuz we eat alot of it and no way do we have the space.

26 degrees and light snow. Supposed to get down to 21 tonight. Ugh. Hopefully this is our last cold spell.
