After last night, I'd guess he's a two year guy. Looked very raw, and he needs time. Bet his ass is still sore from that spankin' Naadir gave him. Naadir was pissed! And rightfully so... such a beautiful pass, and Embiid wasn't ready.

He's very very raw for obvious reasons. The NBA drafts on potential, so it's very possible he's gone after 1. But man two+ years in Self's system would do the kid wonders.

I had the exact opposite reaction - amazing how two people can watch the same thing and go in opposite directions.

After last night, I think the guy goes top 7 and possibly top 3. There is no one in college basketball like him. Period.

He's definitely got the potential, but last night he looked like a talented kid that had only been playing ball for 2 years. All his improvement will come with play. After watching him last night, I'm excited to see how much he grows over his freshman year.

Honestly after watching last night, I'd be very tempted to take him #1 overall ahead of Wiggins, Randle, et al. He looks a lot like Roy Hibbert to me. You just can't find 7-footers who move like he does. He's a total freak. You can always find a Richard Jefferson type to play the 3 but centers.....always have been and always will be premium commodities.

My friend said Lamarcus Aldridge. Neither of you are wrong.

I mean, he's a legitimate 7 footer with the body of a 6'5" wing. Outstanding balance, proportion, bulk, athleticism, and agility. And let's not forget he actually has touch on his outside shot. That is the complete ****ing package.

Embiid is the quintessential example of youth and inexperience being positives. He's that good for having only played two years.

Someone is going to draft him super ****ing high. And if they don't, and he comes back for a second year... I'll dance naked in the streets.

The real reason Wiggins is at Kansas.

I don't think Wiggins likes sharing the spotlight too much and he had already seen what Young can do. I've thought that since Wiggins picked KU and between Cal and the NBA scouts, I have no doubt. Too bad he didn't have the courage of Bledsoe.

Maybe Wiggins just liked Kansas better. Maybe he watched our championship game against them with our full slate of stars sharing the ball and not running up their stats and thought that he'd rather be the BMOC VS one of many here. Or maybe he just liked the flatlands of KS.

Re: The real reason Wiggins is at Kansas. Reply
I really think it is as simple as him choosing to spend a year close to his brother. It is rather pathetic really, this is a kid that won't have any choice in location after this year until he gets a 2nd deal (assuming he does of course).

If this is indeed the case as it seemed to be indicated as such when he committed then it doesn't say good things about his personality.

If you are looking to build around a player as your foundation piece you of course want all the talent but you also want the game to be the most important thing in his life. You want him to be driven to win above all else and you want him to sacrifice for the team.

His college choice says that he is a player who has other priorities, doesn't value winning or team play above them. It also shows immaturity and an inability to strike out on his own without fear.

Liking a school better if that were the case is a silly reason to choose a 1 year stop that clearly has a lesser chance to win, is clearly a career gamble based on previous players in his position attending said school vs the other option, and to choose to forgo the place in history that being the center piece on the greatest recruiting class of all time would bring him, and the boost that would give his brand.

So either way it doesn't look good on him.

Wiggins I believe went to Kansas because he wasn't ready for the pressure of coming to kentucky and knew the microscope would be greatly amplified at kentucky compared to Kansas or Florida State. . Hes a good kid and would have been one of the greats but hes cut from a different cloth nothing wrong with that at all. Hope Wiggins is a NBA star one day along with Parker and Randle. 3 future all stars if you ask me.

I know someone who works for Adidas, specifically the grassroots division for their basketball program, and that letter was real, it had to come out that it was false because it was a complete black eye for Adidas, Wiggins, Kansas, and college basketball in general.

Wiggins is at Kansas because he didn't think he'd enjoy being held to the highest standards on the biggest stage alongside the best players in the college game with the entire world watching.

See wannabe-big-fish-in-small-pond-itis.

Good luck to him out there in the corn where he feels comfortable.

Re: The real reason Wiggins is at Kansas. Reply

I think it's the opposite. He shy's away from the spotlight. That's why he went to a "traditional" old-school type in Kansas. Where he will be treated just like any other freshman, and he will be slightly held back to prove a point. No doubt Wiggins will be trashed this year when people realize he's not Kobe Bryant, and he ain't exactly playing for Cal. He's a Jayhawk, for better or worse.

I'd have to see him shoot like Aldridge, or have his offensive game. I don't see that yet. Hopefully we see it this year but even if we don't, his ceiling is stratospheric.

He's bigger than Aldridge. Huge wingspan. Just by looking at him, you know he has the potential to be a great defensive player at some point at the next level, which LMA never has been and never will be. Only time will tell whether he can develop that kind of offensive game to go along with it.
