Still haven't seen it yet, having problems with the new owner of the company I work for not paying invoices in a timely fashion (I'm a month behind on bills because I haven't been paid for work I completed weeks ago; I'll leave it at that), but I have a few bucks left on a gift card so I'm going to try and catch an early matinee showing in the next couple of days. I need something to cheer me up.

Hulk stole the damned movie. Best Hulk evar. Eric Bana and Edward Norton will be forgotton. Ruffalo was solid, and his face made for a better Hulk render.

I thought Ruffalo was solid but not as good as Norton though.

Im just saying, if you actually read the comics, then the expectation for an Avenger to die in a theatrical movie is pretty far out of left field. Especially so in the first one where they initially form the group.

Helluva team. You all get together, and already one of you is dead. Maybe this Avengers thing wasnt such a great idea. Heh.

The only time any of them started kicking off was in that shitty Civil War storyline where a clone of Thor (still can't believe they actually went that route.....) kills Giant Man, and of course it ends with the death of Captain America.

It looks like theyre going for the Infinity Gauntlet story arc though, which is going to be kick-ass. I think that not just because its Thanos, but the manner in which they introduced him, with that alien dude saying that "To challenge the humans is to court death.

In the Infinity Gauntlet story, Thanos was obsessed, and in love with death. Hearing that line delivered and then seeing the smile from Thanos seals the deal.

We wont be seeing any mains die anytime soon, thankfully so. Maybe Nolan will throw us a swerve and off Batman for you. Never know. Last movie he is doing, same for Bale and the rest, and Bane did break him in half in the comics.


As far as the idea of Iron Man getting stranded in Thanos' realm...I suppose it could be okay, but Id rather see him against some of his classic enemies. I dont know what the fecking holdup is with getting The Mandarin introduced. Thats crazy. Going into the third film in the franchise and still no Mandarin. Probably Crimson Dynamo or Titanium Man next, which might be kind of a drag. We've already had two movies where the main villain has some form of Starktech style armor. A third in a row would be getting dangerously close to stale.

Also consider that some of the best parts of the Iron Man films are Tony's banter with Pepper and Rhodes. If he's basicly pulling the Iron Man version of Castaway, there's not going to be much opportunity in there for Stark's witty banter and one-liners.

Lastly, it goes back to the movie being about them first forming the Avengers. You cant have some catastrophic fail like the death of one of them, or Stark getting stranded in another universe. It had to end the way it did, with the good guys all kicking ass (and surviving), Loki gets dragged back to Asgard in chains, casting aside the cheap death of the villain in favor of what happens in the books, and the forming of the team considered a resounding success.

Ialso don't see why IM couldn't get stuck in space and have be the plot of IM3 and then return and be in a 2nd Avengers movie. You're acting like everything has to be so cut and dry.

It's appreciated. As I said, in a perfect world we'd be free to roam from theater to theater quality-checking, and/or being at the start of each film, etc.,. Sadly, we can't, so we rely on people to tell us something's wrong. Which is not uncommon in today's customer service. I think the problem in movies is that people still assume there's a projectionist doing that, so they don't get up and tell anyone. But it's definitely a weird mindset (the "I won't say anything, I'm sure someone else will" attitude). I mean, if you were eating a meal, and found a cockroach in it, you wouldn't finish eating, and then tell management, would you?

Funny thing is, with all the effects shots and battles, the only part that stood out to me as being obviously-CGI was when Captain America swung through midair to get from one part of the engine rotor to another. I thought, "That was bad, he looked like Spiderman" (as the CGI in that film was bad).

The next Iron Man is being filmed extensively in China.. so I can't imagine they won't introduce the Mandarin. Although it appears a major part of the plot will be based on Extremis... so who knows.

I may actually get a chance to go on set for Iron Man 3! My buddy is pretty sure he'll be working on it. (He is wrapping up Zero Dark Thirty right now... after doing WWZ and Abraham Lincoln:Vampire Hunter) He is going try to get me some "consultant" work so I am legit while there. fingers crossed

I think the only real nitpick i would have with the movie was what we talked about before. It was shot flat in 1:85 to 1 and felt a little confined to me. This movie was screaming out to be shot wide. Odd because all the other Marvel movies were shot wide??

But the action scenes were pretty well done.

Yeah, I don't know why Disney supposedly insisted with Whedon that it be Flat. Luckily, that actually makes it look even better on my IMAX screen.

I am not at all a fan of comic book movies but am really glad I got invited out to go see this tonight.

Really enjoyable...great pace.
