It relies on the front 4 to get pressure. To do that, you have to invest heavily in the defensive ends, which outside of QB is the most expensive position on the field.

The Tampa 2 is just damn near impossible to run in today's NFL and still have money left over for other things.

The Chiefs have done that before and failed. Crennel was the Chiefs' HC after being Defensive Coordinator. Todd Haley had never been a HC before coming to the Chiefs, and look what happened. Read my lips: NO COLLEGE COACH or OC/DC should be a HEAD COACH for the Chiefs. It will be a recipe for disaster all over again.

He's 72. How long will he be here? And once he's gone, you have to replace him with a guy who isn't really considered a guru at the defense he will build.

The Tampa 2 is becoming obsolete. YOu can't press receivers the way you used to be able to. Your guys in the middle can't intimidate receivers by beating the crap out of them if they dare to run through the middle. Also, you need elite talent, because you essentially have linemen who all need to get push in the pocket even without a ton of blitz help. The scheme has adapted to allow for more blitzing, but not nearly enough.

Not only that, we'd have to make a significant change in personnel. Houston and Hali have to add weight and play full time with their hands on the ground, and we'd have to assume that doesn't drop off their production. I think it will. DJ is not an ideal Mike and you need an absolute stud. Berry's a great safety for this defense, but you have to have a free safety with tremendous range and 2 OLBs with exceptional speed. KC has neither. They need two defensive tackles who can really push the pocket back -- Dontari Poe wasn't drafted to be that kind of tackle (though arguably, Dorsey could maybe adapt in a new role).

Obsolete defense that requires a lot of time and changes to build. No to Kiffin.

You do have to have a MLB that can run, which is tough to find. The Tampa 2 is becoming outdated because teams can spread you way out and run the ball on you.

The only thing I can think of as to why they'd all want to come here and share duties like this is because they're trying to recreate the 90's 49ers and Packers that resulted in literally DOZENS of these types of guys getting HC and GM jobs all over the league.
The real A-Team has arrived.

Maybe for once, they aren't all just egotistical assholes and want to just come in here and work together to put a winner on the field and beat the ever living shit out of the league?

The way I see it is that the GM & HC will work together with out trying to undrmind each other. That was the problem we have had over the last 4 decades. It just didn't work. In most cases the HC was forced to play the guys the GM brought in like it or not. Now the HC is responsible for his guys and the GM will help in aquiring & signing those guys. This makes it more of a team between the GM HC & ownership imo. The HC has power he didn't have before & can go right to Clark Hunt if there is problems. It's huge for this franchise.

And I really want to bring in a DC who is flexible, not only able to run a out of date hard as shit to assemble defense.

In other words, I want Ron Rivera to come in and run his version of Jim Johnson's defense, the one that was nasty as **** in Philly.

They all want to work together is why. Dorsey can go to numerous spots right now and be the GM. He could have been the Colts GM last off-season.

He wants to work with people he trusts and all those guys just know they want success together (which is what Pioli always preached but never ****ing surrounded himself with the talent or the communication skills to pull it off) and they want to win a SB.

Heckert could be a GM right now if he wanted to as well.

It's beyond that for them.

Yeah I heard that earlier today.

I keep telling myself that people in Kc thought Pioli was safe too.

They're bringing in a new GM, I wouldn't think they would want to force a HC on him.

So all these guys actually want to work with each other? I didn't think that was allowed?
