Game of Thrones (spoiler-free zone)
A few have suggested it, might as well test the waters. The idea is to give people who haven't read the books a safe place to talk about the show.

A few quick ground rules:
  • No Spoilers!!!!! for upcoming episodes.
  • Larger Song of Ice and Fire discussion should be limited to the other thread although I think a tiny bit of book delving to fill in holes should be okay (example of this would be talking about Catelyn and her treatment of the wolves in the novel, which was alluded to on TV but never really made clear...)
  • Everything that happened that week is fair game once an episode airs. So if you don't watch on Sunday night, I'd stay outta here until you do...

That's my recollection as well. The titles refer to the characters. Like nicknames. But it's still the same format as the other books. At least for the most part.

I can't remember exactly, but there might be a couple that are literally titles and not names of or references to the POV characters.

They all refer tot he POV character, but sometimes they give insight into something about that character. This is the no-spoiler thread, but one example from the 5th book is...

Eh, chances are they wouldn't know WTF he is talking about.

Regarding the title issue, he seems to stick with character names most of the time unless he's 1) introducing a new POV character or 2) doing a single chapter from a POV that isn't a main character. He never did that much in the early books, but starts doing it a lot in the later ones.

Ugh. I'm re-reading books 1-4 before going into book 5, and hadn't expected a spoiler that far ahead in this thread...

I didn't blame Hawk - it was my own fault. Just annoyed that I read it. I didn't expect a book 5 spoiler in the non-spoiler thread about season 2, but if I'd paid more attention, it wouldn't have been an issue...
