New York Jets Interested In Geno Smith?

New York Jets Interested In Geno Smith?
Mar 24th, 2013 at 3:49 pm by Josh SanchezNew York Jets

Former West Virginia Mountaineers quarterback Geno Smith is widely regarded as the top quarterback in the 2013 NFL Draft class and he has been receiving interest from a number of teams that are selecting in the top ten. The most recent team to throw their hat in the mix for Smith is the New York Jets.

Jets senior personnel executive Terry Bradway and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg attended Smith’s Pro Day at West Virginia.

Not only did Bradway and Mornhinweg attend the Pro Day, but they spent private time with the quarterback, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York. According to Cimini’s report, the Jets contingent came away impressed.
The question is whether or not the Jets would trade up in the draft to acquire Smith, since he will likely be off the draft board before the Jets pick at No. 9.

The Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns and Arizona Cardinals have already expressed their interest in Smith, so New York would have to make a move if they would like to land the WVU product. That is highly unlikely.

Expect the Jets to move forward with Mark Sanchez, Greg McElroy and Tim Tebow as their quarterbacks.

The positive news for New York fans? The Jets seem to be looking at their options at the position moving forward.

That being the chiefs with andy and doug,

one has alex smith, and the browns a second year qb who is actually OLDER than alex smith in weeden, and yet, neither of those teams seem apt to take a qb in this draft, at least in the first round.....

That doesnt strike people as ODD?

For a draft this deep, and what is perceived at this point to be an extremely deep draft next year, those wouldnt be bad picks. Now, that also depends, how far are they dropping?

Not when you consider the fact that the Browns and Chiefs are both irrelevant franchises with a pedigree of losing.

One team's just been doing it longer.

Accordng to PFT, Barkley's work out Wednesday will push him past Geno. Will that weaken the market. Or chum the water for sharks? Jets/Buffalo/ect.

Both have brand new front offices, that are connected to former winners.

Andy and dorsey, dorsey with the packers, and andy helped rebuild the entire philly franchise, and the browns with banner,, and their new owner, who came from pittsburgh, and norv, who when he has been an OC, has shown that he can mold qbs......

I think that has to say something.

People keep linking Geno to the Cards, I dont see it, i have seen them taking barkley regardless. He seems like the type of qb that arians would want.

Either way, the fact you're trying to hold up the Browns as examples of how a team should be managed is pretty comical.

Probably, but if they get a 1st next year from a likely poor team this would redeem them in my eyes after basically giving up a 1st for Smith.

I've been saying this for weeks.

Geno Smith is going #1 overall. Period. End of story.
