California Bay area dealing w/ mass exodus

Oakhater could live near you guise!

“You can’t even contemplate getting into the housing market here,” Hancock said. “And I don’t mean just service workers, but highly skilled professionals. The tech elite are having a hard time affording reasonable housing in Silicon Valley. That makes it difficult for employers to recruit.”

Operators of a San Jose U-Haul business say one of their biggest problems is getting its rental moving vans back because so many are on a one-way ticket out of town.

Dabak cites crowding, crime and politics as the reasons for her own exodus.

“We don’t like it here anymore. You know, we don’t like this sanctuary state status and just the politics,” she said.

She plans to sell her home for about $1 million, buy a much larger place near Nashville for less than half that and retire closer to family and friends.

Hopefully the new border wall will significantly decrease those numbers - being a sanctuary state.

The link doesn't work and I'm not talking about illegals, I'm talking about people migrating from other states.

California currently hosts a third of the nation's welfare recipients. Over one in five Californians lives below the poverty line. One in four Californians was not born in the United States. These social transformations pose enormous political challenges and demand that infrastructure and schools grow commensurately to meet soaring populations.

Instead, California is eating its seed corn."
An opinion piece written by a conservative. Cool story bro.

$20 billion in new hotels and high rises in Hollywood over the course of the next 7 years, along with enormous skyscrapers in DTLA ensures that the population will continue to climb.

It's nuts, man. We took a Lyft to a club in DTLA 2 weeks ago and it took 1 hour, 15 minutes to go 7 miles.

Tell me about it, man. Have you been to Downtown SD recently? It's like a forest of Condos. Nearly every new multi-story building is a condo project.

1. The exodus from the Bay Area is continuing as home prices and rents in the region soar higher, reports Louis Hansen of the Bay Area News Group$, citing a new study from the real estate firm Redfin. The Bay Area led the nation in outward migration in 2017 because of the extreme housing shortage and unaffordable prices. The top destination for residents in search of housing: Sacramento. Yet even with the mass exodus, the Bay Area's population continues to grow because more people are coming in than leaving as the region's job market prospers.

What is this, you say? A differing a opinion? OH MY!

Ah yes, that is happening in many places. I would say, unfortunately for such owner, many cities are enacting strict limitations on "short term rentals" such as Air B&B.

My wife has family members that own homes in Sac, Stockton and other Bay area cities that also rent apartments in SF and Silicon Valley in which they only go home on the weekends.

It ****ing sucks, too. My next door neighbor can't afford her mortgage so there are Air B&Bers in and out of there every week.

Most of the people are polite and don't cause problems but then there are times when a group of young people rent the house for a week and stay up partying until 5-6am, which makes it difficult to get any real sleep.

Not downtown, just North County, which is growing, too. I might make it down to a Padres game this summer but then again, I was supposed to make it down the past three summers...

Turns out, when reading the original quotes and study, they may be leaving SF, but they're staying in California

https://www.eastbaytimes.com/2018/02...dus-continues/

"The most popular destination for Bay Area refugees remains Sacramento, followed by other tech hubs and California cities. “It’s pretty much in line with what we’ve seen for the past few years,” said Taylor Marr, senior economist at Redfin. “Many people leaving the Bay Area are still looking in California.”

Kaboom. I just shit all over your narrative Pogue. Idiot.

I have several friends that have stated that once their youngest children are in college, they're going to pack up and head to Palm Springs.

Why not?

I love San Diego. Taking the family down to see my parents there about once a month now.
