the only type of backs that deserve round one is a adrian peterson/mccoy level talent.. hell charles level too. Other wise.. you certainly can wait till 2nd and on.
You don't need a great running game.. just a respectable running game so teams cant stack the box. |

You can't win on a running game alone. But if you don't have an elite qb, it's not a bad idea to build around an elite defense and a stud rb. The problem is moreso that too many elite rbs are paired with awful qbs. Demarco Murray is a classic example of what happens when you match an excellent rb with a good qb. Sure, you can find those guys in later rounds, but there is most definitely a difference between an elite rb and a solid starter. |

I'm not opposed to drafting a RB in the first round, but not this year. RB is one of those positions you don't need to develop a couple years before they hit their stride like other skill positions. They are practically plug and play as rookies. Charles has a couple good years left in the tank, when he's close to done THEN draft his replacement. Drafting one now would be a waste. Davis is a more than suitable backup for the near future.
