The Kansas City Chiefs still don't have a reliable starting quarterback for the 2013 season, a glaring issue that will assuredly be addressed in the coming months. One possibility for Andy Reid and his new team could be to bring in the quarterback he drafted last year out of Arizona, and as Chris Mortensen sees it, the Chiefs would have to give up at least a third-round pick to do so.

Mortensen said on ESPN's "NFL 32" a third-rounder would probably be the going rate to acquire Foles. He seems to believe Kansas City is inclined to head to the bargaining table for the 24-year-old passer.

Clearly the connection between Reid and Foles would be a starting point to these negotiations. He drafted Foles in Round 3 of the 2012 NFL Draft, ultimately supplanting Michael Vick with the rookie quarterback later in the season.

If the Chiefs find a way to bring in Foles, retain Dwayne Bowe and use their No. 1 pick in April for another valuable commodity like Luke Joeckel, we might actually see the beginning of a decent offensive display. Kansas City has plenty of work ahead this offseason.

But outside of McNabb, he really hasn't coached a GREAT QB.

Its important to point out the fundamental difference between Reid and Pioli. Reid developed guys while Pioli literally laughed off the idea of ever drafting a QB.

I almost drove off the road Friday afternoon while listening to Fox Sports Radio. That ex-Raiders DB Steve Hartman actually said that the 49'ers "might be willing to part with Alex Smith" for the Chiefs' first round pick.

Outside of Donovan McNabb, Andy Reid has produced the same number of franchise QBs that Scott Pioli has - zero.

I am ABSOLUTELY an Andy Reid fan. But he's just not this mythical QB whisperer. He just isn't. He's never had a dumpster fire under center. But he's never turned chicken shit into chicken salad.

Reid flipped AJ Feeley for a second.

Reid Flipped Kolb for a second round pick and a first round cornerback.

Reid got Mike Vick to play at a crazy level in 2011.

Nick Foles threw for 1700 yards in 6 starts under Reid, as a rookie.

Twice, he has identified and drafted what turned out to be the best QB of his class.

But I'm not real interested in finding a guy he can get to play ok so we can flip him for picks.

I want the guy he can get to play elite and win games.

Yep. I don't love the idea of passing on a QB in the first, but I do trust Reid to come out ahead in the QB search.

His teams always drafted high and therefore wasnt in position to get a pick of quarterback....he was working with guys like Feeley and Kolb because they were the best guys he could get.

You're forgetting Favre and Hasselbeck in Green Bay. He was brought to Green Bay the same year Brett was so I'd like to think he had at least a little to do with his early success

when he calls up someone for a deal, they are going to say thanks for no thanks. He suckered a lot of stupid people over the years to overpay for a lot of crap. I wouldnt be surprised if he called up Philly asked them to do him a solid and they told him to go pound sand.
