I have no idea what the producers are thinking but introducing another universe wouldn't be relevant to what we've been shown so far.

The ONLY reason they're aware of another universe on both sides is due to Walter traveling between the two universes and stealing Peter. The Alternate universe is just as afraid of the regular universe and vice versa.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Observer come into play this year as well.

That "First People" hasn't been in the title sequence since the first time it showed up in Season 2, and "First People" was a huge thing in this weeks episode.
