Pickett to Green Bay
Bills Lose Battle To Sign DT Ryan Pickett
Wednesday, March 15, 2006 05:12 PM - Mark J.Grimaldi - WGR 550 Just a day after visiting Buffalo, top-tier free agent Ryan Pickett fell out of the Bills' lap. The 6'2'' 330-pound defensive tackle signed with the Green Bay Packers Wednesday. Pickett would've been the biggest name the Bills brought in from free-agency this year, but the Packers beat out both Buffalo and St. Louis for the rights to the stud DT. This may be a big blow to Bills' fans who have now watched their team try and then fail on signing their 2 biggest free agent prospects. Veteran Center Kevin Mawae signed with the Tennessee Titans this week. Despite signing former Colts' DT Larry Tripplett, the Bills still have a large void to fill at nose tackle following the release of Pro-Bowler Sam Adams. The Bills also lost DT Justin Bannan, who signed with the Baltimore Ravens as a free agent. This makes the push to draft Oregon DT Haloti Ngata that much stronger for Buffalo. The Bills' hold the #8 position in this year's NFL draft. |
