-- Do we owe Perkins Bakery & Cafe a little discussion?

Fine baked goods, great Denver Omeletts? Sourdough country-club sandwich?

Any of you KC folks still visit here? What do you procure at Perkins and why?

Do you only go for the free toy chest up front?

Snicker-doodle cookies? Good baked goods there (I seem to recall)

Whatcha' got?!

I remember hearing a story about a Perkins being robbed and a waitress being anally raped at gunpoint in the back. Someone my mother knew.

What Restaurants did you grow up around? I'm not talking super fancy and yes fast-food counts. What distinctive memories do you associate with them?

Mine?

Taco Via-(the lit up menu of the various taco plates displayed on the wall), WhiteCastle-On a paper plate with fries and Pepsi, Arthur Trachers(off Noland), Tippins(off Noland), Perkins(the free toy well), Country Deli(awesome local deli to Blue Springs heated sandwiches on Sourdough buns), Zarda BBQ and Dairy, FunHouse Pizza(of Course)(Dark. Video- Games,Electonic Riding Bull and 25-cent Taco night) Annes Sante Fe.

Keep in mind I never see these anymore living in Georgia.

The city was involved in getting us in there as the centers owners wanted to tear it down for more parking but the city would loose tax $$$ so OP forced them to lease it one last time. If the lease didn't stick they could bull doze it.

That was in the mid 1990's and the old wiener stand's building is still there.

There is still a Perkins in Toms River where I grew up and it's been there over 40 years.

At least 7-8 girls I graduated with in High School worked there and on the weekends me a a buddy would go visit them after out at bars drinking, they were mostly cheerleaders and friends, so they gave us free or discounted foods.

Great times and food was pretty decent from what I remember.

I'm afraid I don't understand your concern, bolded above.

Oh yeah!!! I lived in Mannheim, Heidelberg (met my Wife there - she was an American attending the University) and Berlin. My God....JaegerSchnitzel!!!!!

I lived in an apartment (Mannheim) directly off the Strassenbahn line and every Friday there was a guy with a Brat cart....I would get off the train and he would hand me a Brat with mustard really cheap 1MK 25Pfennig.....my God was it good!

And let us not forget Pomme Frits! They served a huge order in Newspaper with Mayo...damn but they were good!

That is one thing that I really miss - good German food!
