-- Do we owe Perkins Bakery & Cafe a little discussion?

Fine baked goods, great Denver Omeletts? Sourdough country-club sandwich?

Any of you KC folks still visit here? What do you procure at Perkins and why?

Do you only go for the free toy chest up front?

Snicker-doodle cookies? Good baked goods there (I seem to recall)

Whatcha' got?!

Sometimes I just add cheese, sometimes more. Just depends on level of hunger.

There is always some local place that offers a kick ass breakfast.

I just hate chain resturants in general.

I don't dislike Perkins but I've never had a meal there that made me want to go back. I don't think I've ever been there in the last ten years on my own volition. It was always to meet someone for lunch or coffee.

Likewise.

After many cocktails, it hit the spot and kept a guy from feeling like warmed over death the next morning.

Around here, it's mostly just chains—with just a few local places. One all organic and VERY expensive, one cheap and not as good as Perkins. There's another but it got rid of their awesomely unique omelettes, so I don't go anymore. There's a new one, a health one haven't tried yet. I only get one thing at Perkins—that Mediterranean omelette. It is so good.

25 years ago, Perkins food soaked up thousands of beers in my belly. I've had their pies a few times since, and maybe breakfast once or twice since as well. It's meh for breakfast, as most chain places are. Pies are good though

My Wife and I were riding down Santa Fe (about to get on 35) and I noticed that the "Huge" flag outside the Perkins was tattered and about to fly off the pole.

I pulled into their lot - and went inside. I asked for the manager and the young lady came out. I asked her to accompany me outside (she MUST have thought I was going to kidnap her). I pointed up to the flag and asked her if Perkins couldn't do better than that.

Her response? "Sir, I will get this taken care of immediately". She thanked me for bringing the flag to her attention and gave me a voucher for two free meals.

Good on her!

First date was actually touring performance of Phantom of the Opera at the KC Music Hall. After the show, Perkins was one of a few things open still.

A couple years later, best man and usher are driving us to the hotel on our way to the honeymoon. Neither of us got to eat much at all at the reception, so we had them pull into the same Perkins for a meal.

Oh okay, nice! The Phantom and then Perkins SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN!

Why do companies always discontinue the best things? so dumb!

No that's seriously cool - They must keep flags in good condition (being serious here, actually)

I've eaten at the Perkins in Lees Summit 3 times and the service LOUSY each time. It took over 45 minutes to get our orders. One time it was just pie and coffee. Took the grand kids to the one in Olathe and we were there 1 1/2 hours for dinner and that was at 8:00pm. Went to one in Lincoln Nebraska and they brought us the wrong food and seemed like it was an inconvenience to correct it. I WILL NEVER EAT AT PERKINS AGAIN.
