Call of Duty will go head-to-head with Battlefield 3 in 2011.

The third game in the series, which will be shown to press during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco next month, is set for release this coming fall, Electronic Arts confirmed.

The publisher revealed the first teaser trailer for the game on its official website tonight. The trailer, which contains no actual gameplay, displays quick cuts of helicopters, ground troops, tanks and fighter jets.

Additional details courtesy of the official Battlefield Blog confirm a full single-player and co-op campaign, jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer for the PC version. The Frostbite 2 engine will power the game and a Limited Edition will be revealed around GDC.

Developer DICE confirmed earlier this morning it was canceling the release of Battlefield 1943 and the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Onslaught pack for PC.

After playing for a little bit, I think that this game kind of sucks. Sure, it looks great. However, there is NO team communication whatsoever. Why did they take out the built in voice for squads? How are we supposed to communicate? I don't always know the people that I jump in a game with, so how are we supposed to do teamwork? And why is there no commander to give overall direction and strategy? No artillery? No supply drops? No vehicle drops? No UAV? This game seems like it was built for the console 13 year old crowd...

Without the communication, squads, and strategy, this is just another shooting game with good graphics.

Voice is built in with squads on the 360, man, IDK. As soon as you join the squad, you can be heard unless the rest of them are partied up.

But, yeah, you really have to have friends to play this with for it to be fun. This is why I got it got for the 360 instead of PC. We had 5 people playing together last night and it was a blast.

For some reason(presumably pressure from EA), Dice changed the lead platform for development from PC to the console ( probably to appeal to that 13 year old crowd like you stated), midway through the development cycle. I'm guessing they had a timeline to beat COD and so they had to scrap some of the features PC users have come to expect. I imagine PC user friendly features will be patched into the game , they just needed something to compete with COD out of the box before COD's release.

If you can't stand the game as it stands, try coming back in a few months, I'm sure the experience will be more suited to your enjoyment.

This coupled with the patches, hd hardrive requirement for 360, and the server issues = a ton of hassle just to play a freaking game.

Thing I hate, quit putting me in a squad. Should be optional like in 2142.
Always happens, I an sniping, guy spawns on me and proceeds to jump up and down while firing rockets. Next thing I see is tank shells coming my way.

And as said, first big patch better have a back out button in multi inbetween rounds.

That and the aholes who never spot.

I've found that a lot of people playing right now don't even know that spotting exists. Annoying, but you just gotta let them know. What pisses me off is when I play with random dudes in STDM, the support guys never drop ****ing ammo. Seriously, asshole, I'm carrying your squad with 20 kills, the least you could do is drop some ****ing ammo for me.

I don't know why you wouldn't spot or drop ammo or med packs...those are like the easiest points you'll ever earn...

I was in a squad with badmajama last night, had the mic on and was asking him a question...brideowanian walked into the room, having never heard me speak before.....You'd have thought she caught me jacking it to midget pRon the look I got.


I didn't know spotting existed until bmj explained it last night.

yea those video games are like porn so understandable.

I wish the group was larger for PS3 as well. Would like to compete with the 360 crowd on members in a platoon. Oh well maybe as the holiday's near more people will get it as a gift.

Had to split after a few rounds. I almost went the whole night gaming, but forgot I had physical therapy in the morning so I had to go ASAP. I'll be gettin on later tonight. I'll send ya an invite if you're on.

Yeah, boggles my mind. Especially when I point at them and call out for some ammo so they hear it on their screen. It takes a typed out message through XBL for them to actually start dropping those.

be sure you hit start>go to squad & team>switch the VOIP to team instead of squad. then you'll have the entire team hear you instead of its designated squad setting so only your squad can hear you.

All the ****ing time. They flipped it from BC2 and I still can't get used to it after close to 10 hours of playing.

Then again, in BC2, I would jump out of a damaged vehicle to try and repair it real quick only to bust out the RPG instead of the repair tool and kill myself with it. Good times.
