QB Impressions

First glances at several QBs we're going to give a shit about over the next four months. Feel free to set me straight.

DeShone Kizer, Notre Dame
6'4", 230 lbs
26-9 TD-INT, 59%, 2925 passing yards

I get a Cutlerian vibe from this guy. Seems to be built like a franchise QB. Powerful arm, some beautiful passes, perfect bodytype. But he is lacking an "it" factor, is he not? He's not a world-beating, overcome-the-odds, particularly spiriting QB. Looks like he could have an okay career in the NFL in which he wins nothing of consequence.

Mitch Trubisky, North Carolina
6'3", 220 lbs
30-6 TD-INT, 69%, 3748 passing yards

Well if there was one Andy Reid QB in this entire draft, it's Trubisky, isn't it? Super accurate, doesn't take too many risks with the ball, is very mentally tough and very athletic. He's a slam dunk for the Chiefs to trade up for, if he lasts to the 20s, but in a QB-starved NFL with at least 6 new head coaches looking for their QB, there's no chance he lasts to us.

The Redskins don't have a top 6 pick, and $23.5M per year is actually a pretty good deal for the leagues highest rated passer.

Nobody is going to be counting on a rookie QB. You roll the dice and draft them, sure, but you don't ASSUME they're going to be a quality starter day one. People's livelihood is on the line. You don't take a chance like that.

NFL Media's Lance Zierlein compared Wyoming QB Josh Allen to former Washington QB Jake Locker.
This is a comp that we have heard a few times before and it's one that figures to continue to circulate as we head into the spring. Writes Zierlein, "Allen can make some truly special throws, but his ability to improve the mental part of his game will determine whether he's a good NFL starter or just another big, strong-armed guy." He additionally touches on the 6-foot-4, 237-pounder's supporting cast (or lack thereof) at Wyoming, long one of the touchstone arguments in Allen's favor among the quarterback's defenders. Zierlein acknowledges that Cowboy wideouts did, indeed, struggle to gain separation last season, but also notes that "there were plenty of times where [Allen's] lack of anticipation and post-snap plan did him in."

There was one scouting report on Mahomes I read where it quoted some anonymous GM who said something like, "Probably 75% of front office guys in the NFL have no clue what to do with this player." That's pretty accurate, I think.

We love Mahomes and can see a ton of evidence that he's going to be the next great QB in this league, but I also recognize that Mahomes could have been drafted by some shit-chucking Jeff Fisher ape and would have struggled mightily.

Seems like pretty big exaggeration here...

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...-ball-90-yards

90 yards? I have seen video of him throw it 77 yards. That's a big difference. Strongly doubt the velocity number that this guy is claiming too. 70 mph? The Combine record is 60 mph.

Mike Mayock compares Josh Allen to Jamarcus Russell like that's a compliment.

After Dorsey hitting on Kareem Hunt no way he does not take Barkeley with his first pick. Barkeley is a stronger faster Elliot. Barkeley parallels Bo Jackson with Jackson being slightly faster on the top end.
