Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

mediocrity? 2-14 is down right laughable. mediocrity at this point, would see like step in the right direction. but dont worry, with dorsey, and reid, you will be far past mediocrity within 3 years.

I pointed out a while ago, no one responded to it either, that hes prolly going to use alex smith a lot like he used jeff garcia when jeff took over when donovan mcnabb broke his ankle. Hes going to go to more of a true west coast offense. Utilizing the run game, and using play action passes, some screens, more slants, curls, things like that.

THe other point i will make is this, again another point that will be over looked.

Your defense is going to get better because you wont be on the field as much, and you wont turn the ball over 37 times at qb with alex smith. therefore your field position will get better, your pass rush is going to get better because of your d coordinator alone. I can tell you from watching Romeo Crennel as the head coach of the browns, that hes not really an attacking style d coordinator.

YOU WILL BE under the guy you got now, because hes from the rex ryan tree.

Expect tamba hali to be regarded again as one of the top pass rushers in the league.

I find it really funny that i can find more positives, than people who should be thinking positively.

The Chiefs defense isn't that good. When the D gives up points it will be up to Smith to overcome the deficit and the ultra-conservative 1985 gameplan will have to give way to a more attacking offense which Smith hasn't shown the ability to run in his 8 years in the NFL.

Nope. I'm not talking stats here. I think that's a mistake. Yeah, maybe Smith won't throw 27 tds in a season, although we'll see, his stats will improve because of the number of passes he'll throw this year. I'm talking about accuracy and yes, believe it or not, Smith has a stronger arm than Cassel. I watched him throw, and I'm using what I saw as a judge here. Smith can make throws I've never seen Cassel make, 2010 included. This is more an indictment of Cassel than anything, because Smith isn't special, he's just a QB that belongs as a starter in the NFL.

There is a reason alex smith threw less passes than most starters. Very RARELY were they ever trailing.

Alex Smith will be fine here. ANd all of you anti alex hes matt cassel ass clowns will be quiet when the team goes 11-5 and makes the playoffs.

and yes, i will be here when it happens to run it down your throats......
When he gets behind and is required to throw the ball down field he sucks. 2-27-1 when the other team scores 24 pts. He is just there to check shit down and not turn it over. That doesn't equal 11-5 on this team yet.

you have no idea how good your d is, or can be. 37 turnover proves that. You have key pieces in flowers, eric berry (health permitting) derrick johnson, hali, houston, poe, tyson jackson. You need a second corner obviously. A lot of times, a change of philosophy, can be a huge difference. and you are actually wrong on alex smith as well. In 2009 when he had to come back very often, he actually played pretty well. Hes never going to be comfortable throwing all the time, but if the end of the saints game in the playoffs isnt proof that he can come through when he needs to, then feel free to check the packers, lions, bills and cards games from this last year.

People are really lost on what alex smith is, and isnt. Just because he didnt have to, doesnt mean he cant. Besides, today right now, this chiefs offense is MORE potent than the 2011 49ers offense.

you can take that 2-27-1 record, and shove it up your ass.

In the last two years, the only two years in his entire career that matter.

he was 1-2 in those games. and one of those, was the dallas game, where a jim harbaugh coaching error, and a donte whitner error cost us.

the game he won? the saints playoff game, where he had to lead the teams, TWICE, and did.

the other loss was the vikings game last year where the entire team played like shit, and the 49ers defense made christian ponder look like aaron rodgers.....

oh, alex played like shit in that vikings game.

truthfully he did......

I'm so tired of that stat.
So what was the scoring break down of those games, how many times did the D give up a late scoring drive to win the game, what was the point differential in those 1,2 or 24?

How many of those games did the offense not get the ball with any time to score?

Stats without context is the biggest lie there is.

What are the stats of some other QBs in the league when the opponent scores 24? I looked up Romo the last two years, he was 4-12.

But what does it matter if the D gives up a late drive to win the game and the offense doesn't get a chance to respond.

You can't put all loses on the QB no matter what.

Don't get me wrong I hate that pickle washer Romo as much as the next guy but fairs fair.

i would guess, that not many qbs have that good of records when their defense gives up 24+ points a game.

Sweet, not we get to cherry pick what years count and what don't. And the game you pick is against the Saints???? The same damn Saints team that the Chiefs got 1 of their 2 wins against this year because their defense is so damn horrible.
