Superman/Batman movie coming in 2016

---

Quote:
After decades of fighting evil solo, Batman and Superman will finally be teaming up on the big screen, sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter.

Man of Steel director Zack Snyder will direct the tentpole with Henry Cavill returning as Superman. It is unclear who will play Batman in the new film. A release date of 2015 has been set, with a Flash movie appearing in 2016 and a Justice League movie in 2017.

Snyder's Man of Steel, which rebooted the Superman franchise, has grossed north of $600 million worldwide since it hit theaters this June.

Quote:
Warner Bros. is about to bring together two of its most iconic heroes: Superman and Batman will unite in a new film, the follow-up to “Man of Steel,” set for release in 2015.

According to two sources with knowledge of the movie, Warner Bros. intends to announce the news at its Comic-Con International panel Saturday morning. Said a Warner Bros. spokesperson, “We don’t comment on rumors regarding these properties.”

“Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder is expected to reunite with screenwriter David S. Goyer and star Henry Cavill for the new film. It’s unlikely Christian Bale will step back into the bat suit, as the actor has indicated publicly that he has moved on from his days as Bruce Wayne.

“Man of Steel” producer and “Dark Knight” trilogy director Christopher Nolan is expected by some to produce the project, but the exact nature of his involvement is unclear.

The move marks the culmination of years of effort on the part of Warner Bros. and DC Comics to bring their superheroes together in a similar fashion to their primary competitor Marvel, which successfully combined its superheroes into a $1.5-billion box-office hit with “The Avengers.”

In the comic world, the two heroes are teaming up in a new series, “Batman/Superman,” by writer Greg Pak and artist Jae Lee.

I want this made...

The last book of the “Batman: Dark Knight” series was sub-titled “The Dark Knight Falls.” In this book, things take a turn for the worse for Batman in terms of public support when he finally kills the Joker while all of America is following the situation. Although Batman escapes police custody, his actions are not hidden from Superman, who determines that he must be brought in to take care of Batman once and for all.

"We could have changed the world…now…look at us…I've become a political liability…and…you…you're a joke. I want you to remember, Clark…in all the years to come…in your most private moments…I want you to remember…my hand…at your throat…I want…you to remember…the one man who beat you."

That was the quote from the end of the Comic-Con video posted earlier in this thread, so my guess is you're getting your wish.

Another wave of applause bubbled up from the audience, and Zack waited a moment before continuing. "There's a lot of speculation about what we're doing. So it is official that we're going to make another Superman movie. And so you say 'Zack, what is the movie about?' You don't want me to tell you what it's about. You want to go and see the movie. But I can say that maybe there's a single element that will be in the film that I could help you out with."

That's very important, by the way, because some people immediately made the jump to announcing that Snyder is doing "The Dark Knight Returns." He is not. That is a story you tell at the end of a cycle of films, not at the start. It's about Superman and Batman at the end of a long history of encounters with one another, and doing that immediately after introducing Cavill in "Man Of Steel" seems wildly unlikely.

At that point, you could feel the energy in Hall H, all of it focused on what Zack was saying. "How could I do that? I sort of pored through the DC universe to look for a way to tell this thing, to announce our plan. And I came across a thing that I feel like sums up what we're writing now. This isn't what we're doing, but I found a thing that can help you understand the spirit of it."

He brought out Harry Lennix, who was in "Man Of Steel," and asked him to read the quote because he has a better voice than Zack, and they lowered the lights as Lennix stepped up to the microphone.

"I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you."

He says, "this isn't what we're doing" so I don't think Supes and Batman are gonna be enemies, or even beat Superman, which to me is hilarious.

Which is why I don't understand why they used that quote from a story they are no using.

I just wish they'd do a Spawn remake. The first movie was garbage and the comic deserves a movie that can embrace, the dark, twisted world of Spawn.

Yep. They shouldn't fight, IMO. Plus, this is Snyder's first display of Superman. Why would you neuter your guy right away like that; with a human if at all? You're gonna show how bad ass he is in the first film then castrate him in front of the fans and movie-going world using a human with ninja skills? Superman would severely injure Batman (he wouldn't kill him, but injure him to the point he couldn't fight back) with one punch. Hell, he could just fly around him for endless hours taunting him thus causing Batman to be weak due to lack of food or water lol. Superman is faster than a SPEEDING BULLET...and Batman can drive fast in his Batmobile. He's an alien with super powers. I just have a hard time even wrapping my head around how he could get Kryptonite close to him. I know I gotta open up my box a little bit more but even in the comic book world it's ridiculous, or at least it should be.
