There is absolutely no reason you can't duplicate the "Cardinal way". Our success is built on the draft. The Royals usually pick higher than the Cardinals. You just need a GM to make the right picks, better scouts or whatever it is holding you back from draft success.. It is possible.

The one actual Sox fan I know down here is from Boston and is actually a pretty decent guy, way more than I can say about anyone else I've ever known from there. I felt that way in 2006 also. Then our draft picks started working out. Because of our drafts, I feel that its a "real" possibility that we will be right back here next year.

Yeah its not just the drafts but developing that talent. Carpenter is an example of good developing.

Rosenthal is an example of luck but also recognizing that a player may not be a major leaguer at their current position but may at a different position.

Wacha and Miller are examples of not missing on your 1st rounders.

To compete with the $8 BILLION cable contracts of the Yankees, Dodgers etc. you must first draft well.

I wish every Cardinal fan could have gotten the experience of being in the ballpark that night. It still gives me instant chills every time I think about it. I don't know if it would be possible to have such a roller coaster of feelings in such a short time, but one thing I sure as shit will never forget.
