The best TV show of the last 10-12 years that OTW58 hasn't seen...

Just finished up a long holiday break, and spent a lot of it watching all three seasons of Deadwood. For whatever reason, I had never gotten around to watching it, even though I had heard nothing but great things about it.

I thought this was the last truly great show I had missed out on, but then I realized the Planet could probably steer me in the right direction. Looking for something new to me, and phenomenal.

Here's a list of the great and above average shows I've already seen. Might give you an idea of the kind of things Mrs. OTW58 and I like. Prefer to stick to HBO, SHO, AMC, FX, etc. Not really bothering with network.

The Sopranos
Deadwood
Breaking Bad
Mad Men
Boardwalk Empire
Dexter
Homeland
House of Lies
Rescue Me
The Wire
Band of Brothers
The Pacific
Generation Kill
Sons of Anarchy
Archer
Entourage
Weeds
The Killing

I'm sure I forgot something. Any recommendations?

Add this immediately.

Spartacus is good, and I enjoyed it a lot, but it is definitely over the top with the violence/sex. If you're going to be offended, that isn't a good call. But if you're fine with that, it is excellent. Particularly the first season.

The first season of Spartacus was awesome. I have like the subsequent two but the first season is a must see IMO. It is super intense and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Haha. I actually never saw that one. Just whatever flashbacks Spartacus had. I just happened to miss it and never felt compelled to seek it out once I knew what happened in it.

I came in to the show when they were replaying it along with Gods of the Arena so I was really confused on the timelines and everything between the episodes with and without Spartacus.

Television shows that I was REALLY into at one point:

The Office
Prison Break
Supernatural
Spartacus
The Sopranos
Oz
The Walking Dead

Shows that I watched but was never really a fiend for:

Parks and Recreation
Grey's Anatomy
Bones
Weeds (stopped at around season 3)
Nip/Tuck (also stopped around season 3)
Heroes

.. And I'm currently in the process of watching Breaking Bad. I'm only a few episodes in and it seems ok, but it has yet to grip me like I was assuming it would.

Not sure about the last 10 years, but currently The Walking Dead and Boardwalk Empire. Both of them are great IMO.

Nip/Tuck was really good up until the 5th season when they moved to LA, then it jumped the shark. Trashy fun the first 4 seasons

Heroes was great that first season, but I never watched it past that.

Breaking Bad takes a few episodes to heat up the first season, but then gets great after that. But the entire show is a slow burn. Methodically paced.

This. Exactly ****ing this.

The show just got too weird for me at that point so I decided to drop out of that race.

I quit Weeds around season 3 or 4 when the chick went to Guatemala and was pregnant by the president/mob boss or whatever the hell. The drama was no longer as good and the only reason I would even get any enjoyment from an episode was from the brother-in-law's comedic factor..

Yeah, that's been my experience. A great deal of the episodes I've watched so far have been in silence. I guess that's expected though; the dude is dealing with cancer, starting up a meth lab, and his nosey bitch wife. I'm sure ill get more into it pretty soon..
