Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

You've improved big time lately. I have to give you credit for that. You are OK when you just stick to talking football.

I also predict at least one adult male will load his pipe, enjoy the journey and be extremely pleased if the Chiefs' play on the field approaches an "NFL" level.

I also predict Pioli will not be the GM. Crennel will not be the coach. Cassel will not be the quarterback. These three things alone have already made the 2013 season a smashing success for me.

If I wanted to be pissed off all the time, I'd rush right out and get married again.

No, it's just basic intelligence. If you're not good enough to make the playoffs, you're far better off bottoming out and drafting impact playmakers, as opposed to striving for 7-9 every year and being irrelevant.

It reminds me of being a car salesman, someone buys a used car and often comes back the very next day complaining about a ding or scratch they hadn't noticed before buying it, sometimes the dealership will attempt to fix it, sometimes not.

When they don't, you have to go out and say "ok, tell me if i'm lying... you said you loved the seats, agreed that it has great acceleration and handling, you said it had plenty of room for the kids unlike your trade in, you raved about the heated seats and backup camera... now honestly, if you love all of those things, are you really going to let that little scratch on the trunklid ruin your enjoyment of the rest of this vehicle?"

They almost always agree that it wont.

If people want to weep and gnash their teeth over geno, that's on them, but i don't see why it has to ruin everything else about the team for them.

Wow. Were you my last salesman?

Cause that happened. My wife and I went and bought a 2010 Chevy Malibu 2LT, and we love it, but she found a ding in the hood about 4 days after buying it, and BITCHED for a month.

Im like really? Seriously?

Build a bridge and get over it.

I think I've said 1000 times that I've accepted the Alex Smith trade. I did long ago in March when it happened. But I still believed Geno would have made a fantastic protege to keep around while Alex Smith plays for a few years.

We didn't draft him. That's sad, but I'm over it. I still think Eric Fisher was a shitty pick, but that has nothing to do with Geno or Alex.

It's when Geno throws 3 picks in a preseason game and everybody says, "SEE! TERRIBLE QB! AHHHHAHAHAHA" that I raise an objection. Tons of QBs look like dogshit their rookie years. Many of the are 1st rounders, or high-profile guys.

Alex Smith had a 1 TD 11 INT ratio in his rookie year. According to everybody on this forum, he eventually turned out okay. But God, surely his NFL career has been written off after that year, right? Nobody can learn or develop or get better when they're that terrible, can they?

That's what's bullshit about the direction Geno talk has taken. It's entirely the haters who bring up the topic, then claim they're sick to death of talking about Geno on this forum.

Most car buyers are like pregnant women, hyper emotional about every little thing.

I bet many give less scrutiny to buying a home.

Bray does not give us the best of both worlds. Why? He's an UDFA, so there's absolutely no question that something is seriously ****ing wrong with him, likely with his mental makeup.

This is something that fans could not know before the draft, but the writing is obvious now.

I totally agree that people will jump on any negative clipping they find about geno.

Its silly to put too much into anything a rookie qb does in preseason.

This place is sometimes just one big game of GOTCHA.

Some times qbs slip through the cracks. Some times qbs are over drafted.

Like, when Gio Carmazzi, was drafted ahead of Tom Brady, or like when the backers took Brian Brohm in the second round.

Its not an exact science. Yes, Bray had red flags. Attitude, questionable work ethic, but players can overcome some of that.

Like Clays favorite qb, Tony Romo.

While there is no one "right" way to find a franchise QB, the numbers strongly suggest a course of action that the Chiefs haven't taken in 30+ years. At some point, we're going to have to put more faith in the math.

Same could be said with Geno. Mentally he sounds like he's not ready either. He was outted as texting during meetings with teams before the draft. Other than the fact that he has a higher floor than Bray, maybe he would have been a UDFA also.
