2015 Chiefs Milestones

These all related to Chiefs franchise records. I think I did something similar earlier in the offseason, but whatever. It's fun.

Knile Davis needs 549 yards rushing to move into 25th place all time in career rushing (past Len Dawson).

Jamaal Charles needs 7 rushing touchdowns to move into third-place all time (past Marcus Allen and trailing Priest and LJ).

Jamaal needs 127 rushing attempts to move into first place all time (past LJ).

104 passing attempts will move Alex Smith into 8th place all time (ahead of Bono, behind Cassel).

27 passing TDs will move Alex Smith into 3rd place all time (ahead of Deberg, behind Bill Kenney).

251 receiving yards will move Jamaal into 15th place all time (behind Abner Haynes, ahead of Frank Jackson)

844 receiving yards will move Tony Moeaki into 25th place all time (ahead of Andre Rison, behind Todd McNair). Just seeing if anyone actually reads this stuff.

56 receiving yards will put Albert Wilson into the top 100 all time (ahead of Bert Coan, behind James Saxon)

132 receiving yards will put Travis Kelce into the top 50 all time (ahead of Wendell Hayes, behind Barry Pearson). A 1000 yard season would place place him 22nd all time (ahead of Todd McNair, behind Johnny Morton)

3 receiving touchdowns will put Jamaal into the top 10 all time (ahead of Frank Jackson, behind Eddie Kennison).

5 receiving touchdowns will put Kelce into the top 25 all time (ahead of Kimble Anders, tied with Tim Barnett and Lake Dawson).

185 punt return yards will put DAT into the top 10 all time (ahead of Noland Smith, behind Abner Haynes)

66 kickoff return yards will put Knile Davis into the top 10 all time (ahead of Larry Marshall, behind Carlos Carson). As an FYI, Jamaal is ranked 8th.

18 field goals will move Cairo Santos into 7th place all time (ahead of Todd Peterson, behind ... you know, that guy).

15 extra points will move Cairo Santos into 10th place all time (ahead of Todd Peterson again, behind ... you know, that guy again).

11 points scored will put Jamaal Charles ahead of Otis Taylor into 9th all time, and 17 points will put him past Larry Johnson into 8th (which would be 3rd among non-kickers).

7 interceptions will move Eric Berry into the top 25 all time (ahead of Sherrill Headrick, tied with Jerome Woods).

2 forced fumbles will move Justin Houston up to 8th all time (ahead of Donnie Edwards, behind Jerome Woods).

6.5 sacks will move Tamba Hali into 2nd all time (ahead of Neil Smith, behind Derrick Thomas). (Statistics since sacks became an official statistic in 1982).

3.5 sacks will move Dontari Poe into the top 20 all time (ahead of Darren Mickell, tied with Wallace Gilberry and Joe Phillips).

99 tackles will move Derrick Johnson into 1st all time (ahead of Kevin Ross). (Statistics since tackles became an official statistic at some point - 1982?)

54 tackles will move Tamba Hali into 10th all time (ahead of Jerome Woods, behind Tracy Simien).

Interesting stuff. For as many yards as Jamaal gets, his TD numbers are a bit low. He is about to have the most rushing yards in franchise history but needs several TDs to get to the top of that list. With the way Priest got to the end zone (NFL record for a year or two before Alexander in Seattle beat it) that is not surprising but LJ being #2 is a little surprising.

And that Tony Moeaki guy, man is he going to be good!

LJ churned out more yards than Priest but he was also a TD machine.

Jamaal has played behind significantly inferior offensive lines, on significantly inferior offenses, and has the misfortune of being slight of frame. Remember how frustrating it was to see Jamaal take us into the redzone in 2010 only to be subbed out for Thomas Jones? The same thing happens with Knile today despite the fact that JC leads the league in TDs the past two seasons.

Good one, RM.

I think the rest of the list (other than Moeaki) was plausible or even likely but this one...

He only needs 14 to hit 1000 and be the all time leader.

I listened to the interview on Sirius yesterday with Derrick Johnson and he was talking about how awesome it would be for him to get his 15 tackles and set the franchise record in Texas. You know since he's from Texas. He said he should have had the record two years ago.

Don't talk to me about Derrick Johnson. Talk to pro-football-reference.

http://www.pro-football-reference.co...er-defense.htm

I remember reading consistently that Gary Spani had something like 999 or 997 or something. But he doesn't have stats on this list.

The NFL needs to sit some interns down and watch all of the pre-1982 games so they can apply tackle and sack stats to the guys in the TV era. Come on, NFL, stop slacking.
