Anybody drive for uber or lyft?
Just signed up to drive for uber tonight. Haven't got approved yet. Im a little financially strained. Wife isnt working, 2 kids, 3rd on the way. Useless mother in law living with us. Is this a decent way to make some extra coin? Or is it going to be too much of a hassle to be worth it?

Any experiences are welcome.

I think I saw a cost analysis done on these drivers and you basically make dick after you figure in gas, maintenance, and wear and tear on the car.

Seems like Uber is getting sued every other week for being total scumbags. Latest one for stealing drivers tips. One I saw before was they were overcharging customers and underpaying the drivers. I refuse to use them, would never work for them.

Word of mouth from drivers around Chicago that do both, Lyft seems to pay the best and is a better experience. Uber, at least around me, is slowly slipping to the point I had a driver drive right past me without stopping for what I can only guess was because he saw my bag and didn't want to drive to the airport. They tried to charge me for cancelling the trip which was laughable.

I know a few years ago one big issue was that youre violating your personal auto insurance by using it commercially.

I think I've read Uber did some things to extend their insurance to cover something. I'd definitely look into that.
