Stanford Routt Satisfaction Poll?

He was going to be the Chiefs' biggest liability in the secondary.
Through 3 games, he's probably been their best DB.

Likely PFF only graded negatively on one of those plays.

Their grades cover every snap, including plays where Routt gets beaten badly but doesn't allow a completion, which happened at least once yesterday.

It's a legit grade. He sucked ass.

When you only have Justin Houston rush the passer 9 times all game...the corners are gonna have a long day.

You cant let quarterbacks sit back and get comfortable back there.

Suck for Smith.

My editorializing regarding Routt in this thread has been constrained to those 2 plays and began after the first unfortunate TD in which Routt had tight coverage and some moron bumped the thread.

Go watch highlights of Dallas and Chicago. Carr got burned and owned all day. At least Routt was right there...Carr was 5 yards off Marshall on most receptions.

I know you are in full blown fire Pioli mode, but sheesh.

It looked like we were in man coverage most of the day. It seems like we usually play more zone. Flowers and Routt have never been very good in man coverage. They are zone guys.

I don't care.

He would be good here.

He worked here, in this system, with Flowers.

Not as a Chief, not like that, his last two seasons here.

That's what I said.

Some direct quotes from Dallas fans on Brandon Carr:

"He's been abused these past 2 games."

...

"He is about what I thought he was. He is a very good corner. Nothing more.

I never bought into the "shutdown corner" balony that some folks here on CZ tried to feed the rest of us.

There is nothing wrong with a "very good corner".

The problem is we overpaid for him and that contract will hurt the Cowboys in all sorts of ways going forward."

...

"He talks tough to the media. Other than that, he is just a solid corner that is overpayed. Afterall, he was the Chiefs second best CB."

...

Truth.

One of the worst contracts in the entire league.

...

couldn't agree more. (concerning him getting burned up the last two games)

...

Carlos A. Mendez ‏@calexmendez
Brandon Carr says he's through with interviews for a few weeks. Wants to focus and get things right, make the game fun again.

...

Disappointment. He's a good CB, but that's a disappointment. He's being paid to be elite. He's not played up to that level.

...

I think the expectations of him being a shutdown corner (if there is such a thing) were too high. Look at who was playing opposite him last year. If he was that good, they would have kept him.

If Claiborne eventually develops into a top tier corner, then Carr will be fine.

...

Right. Carr is a complimentary corner to the #1 guy.

Pretty much what Kansas City knew and we didn't when we signed him to that monstrosity of a contract.

...

Carr's may be an upgrade over what we had but he certainly isn't anything special. We had one poster here claiming he was the 3rd best corner in the league when he wasn't even the best corner on his team in KC.

...

Now we see why the chiefs didn't put up a fight to keep him. Very avg corner.

...

He's average. Tons of people were over rating him it was kind of ridiculous. I still think he is a pretty solid guy, definitely not worth the $$$ though.

...

It's sad that it's not working out for Carr in Dallas.

He was good here, and would be good if he was still here.

good thing that PFF grades on more than just 2 "big" plays then isnt it. And he's still terrible. And you are still wrong.

You guys know a lot more than me, so this may be a dumb question, but was Carr a leader on defense at all? Is it possible that we lost some leadership when he signed with Dallas that is directly affecting the team right now, since Routt is new to the system and all?

There's a lot of excuses that can be thrown out, but the defense has underperformed at times and it's almost baffling. I know the lack of coaching and the whole bend but don't break scheme is brought up a lot, but still.

Nope, do you honestly think Routt is the main reason we're losing and our offense has nearly been outscored by the opposing teams punter the last two games?
