Gamer headset?

i was hoping that some of you online gamers would know of an inexpensive unit to use for talking to other gamers while playing an online game.

1. inexpensive (Basic ... i don't need anything fancy)

2. i would prefer just the earpiece/mic variety like they use for cell phones if possible.

3. USB preferable

4. wireless preferable

[/edit]5. for a computer, not console

thanks for all sugesstions

Which console do you have?

M$ has a wireless one for 360 that's like an earpiece, as well as a wired one that's more like headphones.

I don't think Sony has an official one for PS3 but there are some third party wireless ones. I *think* you can use any bluetooth headset with PS3 but I'm not sure.

I did a 7-day free trial of Lord of the Rings online.

Needless to say, 6 weeks later, I'm doomed.

Yeah, it's almost a carbon-copy of WoW in a lot of game-mechanic ways, but I really like it nonetheless. Set in Tolkien's universe, obviously, and I can't really think of anything that I don't like about the game. The playerbase (as much as I've interacted with it, which isn't a whole lot) seems more mature and friendly, the storyline runs along with events from the books which is cool, the crafting system is a lot of fun (and I've always hated crafting in the past - all 5 of my toons craft) and, although I haven't tried them all (oh, wait, there's my 1 gripe, you can only have 5 toons/server and there's 7 classes, so you can't play everything on one server) I've enjoyed every single class I've played, from the spell-casting/pet-loving Lore-Master to the healing Minstrel to the melee lawnmower Champion to the Guardian tank to the bow-wielding (but no pet, unlike the WoW iteration) Hunter. I've played them all up to level 15, and most of them to 20 (current level cap is 50) so I think I have a pretty cool feel. I haven't, however, been able to try burglar or captain, the other two classes.

There's a monthly fee, which, for this game, at least, I have no problem at all with since they provide free updates regularly (completely new content, not just bugfixes). They just announced their first large-scale expansion for the fall, which will add the Mines of Moria, two new classes (warden and rune-master) and up the level cap to 60. The games just under a year old now, which, in my experience, is a pretty good time to start an MMO. They've had a year to work out all the glitches, and by the time I finish seeing all the release/update content, the expansion will be hitting (that's assuming I'm even through all the original content by this fall, which I may well not be). I've been playing for 6-7 weeks now, and, although a lot of it has to do with my playstyle (I'm leveling 5 characters simultaneously, instead of one 'main') I'm barely out of the starting areas of the Shire (hobbits...), Ered Luin (elves and dwarves) and Bree-land (men).

Anywho, if you can't tell, I really dig it.

I just got my new Altec Lansing AHS602I Gaming Headset, it's a deal price of $58.
This headset makes listening to any kind of music really enjoyable. I think it's great for FPS games like Counter Strike.

I have yet to see a cheap headset that was worth a damn. You will have to be willing to spend $50+ if you don't want that tin can sound and have a mic that actually works.

This is the set I use.

I'm pretty addicted to Guild Wars. Pay for the game and it's yours, no monthly fees.
Don't know if many have heard of it but it's an MMORPG. I'm usually on TeamSpeak with friends playing. The mic is a two eared piece but I'm running sound from my system so I wanna hear outta both ears!

I can't help but think of Vince Vaughn in the Break-up. "Do you think there's a chance your mom won't love you anymore when she sees how badly you're getting beaten right now? "

When he's talking to some kid while playing online.

Funny line. Is that movie any good?
