***The Official MMA Thread***

Excited about an upcoming fight? Want to make predictions, or just give people a heads-up that there are some fights on? We can do it here.

(Also a good place to complain, dicuss, and agrue about the outcomes)

Yep. There's no controversy at all. Diaz is just a sore loser. Hope Nate goes down next.

I thought is was 48-47 Condit, but it could have went either way. I was pulling for Condit and kind of shocked when Joe said in the 4th Diaz needed to be worried about winning the round since he was behind in the fight.

MMA blows now, I've been watching it since the Pride days. Seen Fedor fight in Vegas against Mark Coleman.

Dana White is horrible. The guy thinks every fighter is bad ass. He'll keep bringing old fighters back. It's really shitty, who wants to keep watching Tito fight? UFC blows and some the judges decisions are a joke. I haven't watched a UFC pay per view event in about 7 months. They have something going like once a week lol. UFC= WWE

I gave condit the middle 3. the 5th was close too.

He fought a smart fight. Didnt get sucked into Nicks Corner and box him brawl he uses on everybody else. He outstruck and outlanded Diaz in every round and was never in trouble. People like to use Octagon Control as an argument for this. Well thats too bad, Condit could go anywhere he wanted to. He sucked Diaz into his gameplan and outlanded the crybaby. Great win for Condit.

I don't want to watch Tito fight, but he is one of the biggest draws around so they keep bringing him back because more people want to watch him fight then anyone else. It's just business.

The MMA guys today are far superior to guys in the Pride hay days. It's just a very difficult sport to score, but more often then not the judges get it right.

It wasn't bullshit. Diaz won 1 and 5 IMO and Condit won 3 and 4. 2 could have went either way, but Condit probably took it I really didn't see 49-46, but 3 judges and Rogan all had it for Condit.

68: Low kicks landed by Carlos Condit during the course of his five-round unanimous decision victory over former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz. Jackson’s Mixed Martial Arts teammate Donald Cerrone previously set the record by landing 49 low kicks against Vagner Rocha at UFC 131. Cerrone’s mark remains atop the list for a three-round fight, however, as Condit had 42 low kicks through three frames.

117: Total strikes landed by Nick Diaz, 140 less than he was able to land in his UFC 137 win over B.J. Penn, which was a three-round affair. Meanwhile, Condit landed 159 total strikes.

329: Total strikes thrown by Condit, 71 more than Diaz attempted in their 25-minute encounter.

4: Rounds where Condit landed more significant strikes than Diaz. “The Natural Born Killer” outlanded Diaz in round one (29 to 23); round three (32 to 22), round four (36 to 11) and round five (25 to 17).

12: Fights since an opponent landed more strikes than Diaz, which was also the last time the Stockton, Calif., native tasted defeat in the cage. In 2007 K.J. Noons outlanded Diaz 18 significant strikes to 13 en route to winning via doctor stoppage.

5: Combined ground strikes landed by Condit (4) and Diaz (1). Diaz earned the only takedown of the fight in the late in the bout’s fifth round, where he attempted to secure a rear-naked choke.

62: Total strikes to the head landed by Diaz on Condit, seven more than the Jackson’s MMA representative was able to land on Diaz.

Yeah, but rules Pride were very different. Chuck didn't stand a chance in Pride during his prime years. In Pride you couldn't just run away from your opponent or lay on top of them. They had consequences for that. Face stomps and face kicks to the ground ended many fights in Pride. You really can't say UFC fighters are more superior. Different ball game over there.

Chuck couldn't beat Rampage in a ring or cage so I don't think that's relevant. I'm not comparing promotions, just era's. Guys today are better.

Well the guys now are better, all of Pride fighters are washed up. Fedor, Cro Cop, Rampage etc.

I think if you put any UFC heavyweight in their prime against Fedor in his prime in a fight in Pride. Fedor would destroy anyone.

I don't think he would, but it is possible. It's just such a young evolving sport that you are going to keep seeing the level of the fighters rise for a long time. Today's MMA guys are better then MMA guys of 10 years ago and MMA guys 10 years from now will be better then guys today.

No it wasn't.

I had no dog in that fight, and Condit clearly won rounds 2,3,4. Diaz had 1 and 5, but 5 only because of the takedown. Either way it was a close call but the judges got this one right.

No. Please know what you're watching and how to score a fight.

Diaz was in the center of the octagon the entire fight. Getting his ass kicked.
