I'm a human before I'm a male, a white person, or an American. Human rights are the ultimate non-identity politics.

Not the way the left uses them. They make nearly all needs and wants a "human right." Just look at the UN Declaration of Human Rights which embraces tenets of socialism.

I prefer to use natural rights of which there are quite few.

Quote:
Article 13

(1) Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state.
No they don't.

Quote:
Article 22

Everyone, as a member of society, has the right to social security and is entitled to realization, through national effort and international co-operation and in accordance with the organization and resources of each State, of the economic, social and cultural rights indispensable for his dignity and the free development of his personality.
No they don't.

Quote:
Article 23
(1) Everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favourable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment.
(2) Everyone, without any discrimination, has the right to equal pay for equal work.
(3) Everyone who works has the right to just and favourable remuneration ensuring for himself and his family an existence worthy of human dignity, and supplemented, if necessary, by other means of social protection.
(4) Everyone has the right to form and to join trade unions for the protection of his interests.

Article 24.

Everyone has the right to rest and leisure, including reasonable limitation of working hours and periodic holidays with pay.

Article 25

(1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.
(2) Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and assistance. All children, whether born in or out of wedlock, shall enjoy the same social protection.

Article 26

(1) Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit.
(2) Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups, and shall further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace.

I guess I'm a socialist and would prefer to live in a socialist state than a state where all of these are denied. I'm quite certain the majority of Americans would agree with me if given the choice on most of these issues.

Sounds like it. Sounds like you have natural fundamental rights confused with positivist rights. But only Americans under years of operant conditioning using socialist principles would seek that. I doubt it's a majority at this point though. Don't see why you don't just go to a place with all those freebies and fake human rights. Like China, Cuba and the softer kind of EuroCommunism.

Others prefer liberty and freedom. Enough of us know that govt delivered services aren't really that good. When enough people learn of a better way socialist ideas will die out.

We are afforded most of these rights as Americans already and have been during our whole lives. Write when you find your utopia in a developing country.

It will be regulated to keep them all thinking they're happy and doing well while they enjoy their chains.

Nope. They're not referred to as fundamental rights here though. They're something granted via govt through legislation crafted by politicians—aka positive rights.

They are not natural due to our humanity or 'cause exist.

You are right that many social protection programs only offer a very basic living. That's why I go to work every day.

I don't care about labels. People should have these rights and pritections. I favor them. People who live in developed countries have them. Call them what you will.

Oh but yes you do. All they are is an identifier or form of short-hand for a set of ideas. Otherwise it gets unwieldy to keep typing all those ideas out each time you try to communicate.

Those aren't natural rights is all I claimed. Please read what I actually wrote.

You don't like labels because you don't understand what those words mean. It doesn't mean a country can't have some of those things—they're just not natural rights which are really only a few. Getting back to my original point—to so called "Human Rights" which is a label itself, are really just a cover for things that are not true rights but socialism.

I’m perfectly happy with my country. You’re the one who wants to transform it. I just do my best to avoid people and mind my own business in real life, rather than screaming to change every damned thing. Hell, I don’t even have to see another human being until Sunday. You all go ahead and eat each other.
