Life bausch and lomb multifocus contact lenses?

I've finally reached that age where reading things up close is no longer possible. It is time for bifocals or something along that line. Has anyone tried mulitfocal contact lenses and whta is your experience with them. Any feedback would be greatly appeciated.

I have no experience with them, but I feel like posting on this thread any way.

I've worn glasses for nearsightedness since the 5th grade. I've always preferred to read without my glasses, but now it's nearly mandatory. However I have to get really close to the print for it to come into focus. But I can still read without my glasses and so I've resisted bifocals.

A few weeks ago I was asked to give some student awards at our department banquet. The award winners names were printed in the program. I took a few minutes to become familiar with the names and thought I was good to go. However, once I got up the podium I realized that I needed to hold the program about 3" in front of my nose in order to read the names. Not real smooth. But I've learned. I've had to do some introductions of guest speakers lately and have taken to making my notes in about 24 point font so I can glance at it and remember my cues. Getting old sucketh.

A girl I was dating used to wear contacts. One of the first nights she slept over I fell asleep first and she put her contacts into two separate water glassed next to the bed.

I woke up during the night and drank them. Hope this helps on some level.

Granted, this was 6-7 years ago, and I would imagine the technology has improved somewhat, but I tried multifocal contacts for a couple of weeks and hated them. The only way to describe what they did to my vision is it was kinda like watching Cops. License plates looked all pixellated, so did books, 'puters, etc. I assume it stemmed from focusing through transition areas between focal lengths. Really didn't work for me.

I tried them and could not get used to them. I guess if you suffered it out for long enough you would eventually tolerate them. They will probably give you a trial pair for free so you have nothing to lose. Instead, I wear "readers" from WalMart OVER my contacts only when I read. It isn't the greatest but getting older isn't so great period.

I was having lunch the other day with an Optometrist from our church. A guy came up to the table and asked him about these contacts. He told the guy they work really good with some people while not well with others and he would just need to try them to see if they worked for him.

I am going through the same thing right now. Always had perfect vision but now I can't read small print up close. I love crosswords and can no longer do them comfortably. I've been holding out thinking that if I change my health regimen that somehow my vision will be restored. I know that's crazy thinking but I can't stand the thought of conceding.

I don't wear any jewelry (not even a watch) because I'm not big on extra accesseries so the thought of glasses is just not sitting well. I'm a little obsessive compulsive about keeping things as simple as possible. I thought about Lasik eye surgery but found out that it doesn't correct the problem of needing reading glasses. Oh well, guess I'll just have to accept that I'm getting older.

My big thing right now is thinking if I have just a little more light I can read it. I find myself turning things in the light hoping to get just enough light to read the print. I used to chuckle when I saw my dad and grandad do that.

Same here, just like clockwork, ever since I turned 40 I've noticed that I have trouble reading anything in dim lighting.

Three years later I have made the plunge into the world of multifocal glasses. Now to read something I have to tilt my head to find the right part of the lens to look through, and maybe move the thing I'm reading back and forth. This is so wonderful that I wish I had been born old.

Bob Dole has been wearing them for about 18 months now. Took some getting used to, but overall not too bad. The first brand (can't remember what it was), irritated Bob Dole's eyes. The current brand (Air Optix Aqua Multifocal) are comfortable and do the job.

Still have problem reading tiny lettering at extremely short distance, but that's why they invented the camera phone where you can expand the picture.

I know that's crazy thinking but I can't stand the thought of conceding.
