KSU vs Alabama for Natl Champion - Who wins?

After watching KSU last night and granted it was against an overrated sports media hyped WVU team that has a Def ranked 115, however Geno is not overrated, he just can't do it all. KSU's game all around was just phenomenal and especially their D that I believe is just as good as Alabama.

Who wins this potential Natl Championship game?

Works for me. Let's settle the earlier bitching by UO about the home and home series with KSU that was cancelled.

The NCG is not a playoff. It is the only post season game that decides the champion. There is no post season gauntlet that teams must go through playing the other top teams to get to that game. Instead we get a 1/3 "objective" computer rankings and a biased 2/3 human vote.

But yeah, same thing.

Please. The SEC is overrated because they only play each other. The only way to assess how good each conference is is during bowl season. The SEC has been dominant historically. However, this year, I think the top teams look weaker than historically, but the SEC is deeper than usual. Too bad petrino was fired and arkansas turned into a nonfactor.

By definition, the National Championship game is a two team playoff and renders regular season results irrelevant like any other playoff system. You can debate the merits of such a system all you want, but don't try to tell me Alabama wasn't the best team in college football in 2011 because they lost a regular season game. The logic doesn't add up (unless you want to apply that same ridiculous regular season principle to every sport and therefore call the 2007 Patriots co-champs).

We really can't say they were or were not the best team.

Sorry dude but, you have lost all credibility insisting the NFL playoffs equal the BCS system.

BCS = NFL playoffs =

If you believe in the merits of a final, deciding, win-all championship game (and it seems that you do judging by your defense of the NFL and its Super Bowl), then we can. Such playoff games simply mean more than regular season games (in the same way that winning the US Open in golf means more than winning the John Deere Open). In this specific case of 2011 Alabama, though, you could even use the eye test to make that determination.

Never said that (beyond their similarity as playoff systems that decide a champion and erase reg. season results), but keep attacking that straw man.

I said middle to lower level teams are worse than usual. So, I guess I have to list them. Arkansas, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Auburn, Missouri, Vandy and Kentucky are all mediocre to bad football teams. Miss. St. is average. Those eight teams don't put any conference to shame, hell, four of them will be looking for new coaches in the off-season things have gone so poorly. Top 6 group is good, as I said. But Bama didn't play the other top 5 teams in conference, they've played two of them.

If I was in a coma for a few decades and k-state had won a handful of national championships or something. But no, that wasn't it. It's really that k-state fans are just simply reeruned.

Bama, Florida, LSU right now would walk all over K-State like it was a scrimmage. I know you guys don't see that because of putting up points on some shit team like WV but Bama would just CRUSH K-state. I mean massacre.

At the risk of being a homer at the time, I voted Bama. But now, after several more games, I would change the vote to K-State.
K-State keeps rising to the occasion, and is much better than I thought they were.
