Tulsa restaurant recs?
You guys did me right on the PHX recommendations last year. Wife and I are headed to Tulsa to see the Avett Bros. tomorrow night for her birthday and need a good place to eat (and maybe a good breakfast joint on Sunday).

We're currently looking at Tallgrass (which is going to be closed) and Juniper (which is where we're currently leaning toward).

Any other recs? It doesn't have to be fancy, but we do like interesting food.

fish - white river fish mkt out by airport, no ambience but great food
joes crab shack on 41st wonderful
steak - silver flame on 71st or outback also on 71st

I'm Also a believer that every town has places worth eating even if it's the greasy spoon behind a gas station.

Tulsa is a different animal.


It's been 13 years since I lived there, but an area called "Cherry Street" aka Peoria had some decent local places to eat. I would give you names, but they probably aren't the same any more.

There is a rougher area south of 31st to 61st on Peoria you should avoid, though.

Juniper is the best bet in tulsa. Tavern is also great, Smoke has a fantastic Sunday brunch.

All safe, good options.

Several good options on Cherry St (15th st between Utica and Peoria) and also several on Brookside (Peoria between 31st and 41st). Downtown and Brady District also have several solid choices. Urban spoon is a safe judge on food in tulsa.
