Olathe 30 closed today for private event
What could they have scheduled that would close down a 30 theater environment for an entire weekend day? Was hoping to see Gravity in IMAX 3d today.

Heh, money talks. But they probably only do this select times of the year. This is traditionally one of the slowest movie going weekends of the year. They probably wouldn't do this during a big summer weekend or something like that.

If the movie theater (or whoever rented the theater) paid to do a public viewing and got permission from the NFL, the NFL policy is satisfied.

That theater is the flagship theater for the company. There is an event with all of their theater GMs from all around. I was contacted to photograph the thing but couldn't make it work for today.

They probably assumed that shutting it down today, when most people are watching the game, minimizes revenue loss the most.
