probably Interstellar Overdrive...

I like the stuff post-Dark Side, but the absolute best Floyd stuff was with Syd Barrett.

Well popular belief would say that all of their stuff was better recieved after Syd barrett left the band. Dark Side of the Moon is still one of the biggest selling records of all time. You can't escape rock radio/classic rock radio without hearing something from most of their albums (Dark Side-Wish You Were Here-The Wall)following the deaprture of Syd. I would have to say that popular belief is the stuff after "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" is not only more polished but also much more recieved.

No Offense, but are you still high on the 4-way pane from 1968?

And to answer the question--Shine on you Crazy Diamond.

I think I posted this at the time, but a few months ago, Q Magazine asked PF fans to send in their Top 20 all-time favs as they were compiling a list of fan favorite songs for a special issue. Here's what I sent them:

Echoes
Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Dogs
Comfortably Numb
Saucerful Of Secrets
Great Gig In The Sky
Childhood's End
Have A Cigar
Astromomy Domine
Us And Them
Jugband Blues
The Fletcher Memorial Home
Flaming
Wot's, Uh The Deal
What Do You Want From Me?
Bike
Arnold Layne
Cymbaline
Welcome To The Machine
Pigs (Three Different Ones)

A damn good list, if I say so myself. I never did pick up that issue to see how it turned out...

The David Gilmour-era Floyd, prior to Waters leaving the band (so the period from Dark Side to The Wall) is BY FAR the most popular. Just look at the breakdown here - 99% of the songs listed appears on either Dark Side or Wish You Were Here.

In fact, I'm guessing that most modern PF fans don't even know about "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" which is, and always will be, the best PF album.
