Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

200ish? The Taurus pt1911 duo tone I'm interested in is $700. It has good reviews. if I could find a Kimber for $200 more I'd be interested.

Apparently it's not all that unusual, even for higher end manufacturers.

I never had a chance to shoot it on my own at the range. I picked it up from my FFL, and the following night I participated in a PPC combat shoot. It was right in the middle of that when I realized it was ****ed up. Very embarrassing. HI GUYS! THIS IS MY NEW .45 THAT WON'T LOAD OR EJECT PROPERLY! COOL, HUH?

I'll sure as hell never blind fire a brand new gun in a competitive event again.

Probably better off in the long run. My gunsmith is one of the top guys in the area (master shooter, too). He's helped me and my friend set up our reloading stuff and worked on nearly all of my guns.

The ramp was a big part of the problem. I don't remember everything he did to it - frankly it's way over my head. He explains stuff, I just nod politely.

Bought one last summer, have not had much time to shoot. Put 50 rounds through it. Couple of things:

It jammed a few times. I was told to clean the hell out of it, maybe I didn't do a good job out of the box.

The mag that come with it are kinda crappy. At least I think the feel flimsy

The slide will not stay open when the gun is empty better than half the time. I have to manually push the lever into place to keep the slide open.

Inaccurate as hell. I'm not a great shot, but I should not have a problem getting a decent grouping at 15 feet. It was all over the place.

I still like the gun, but I need to take some time with it. The slide issue is the worst part afaic.

my buddy had that Taurs slim (forget the right designation) and it all sorts of little issues right out of the box. They paid to ship it back to them and I think replaced it. Either way, he said he was impressed with their service etc.

may be worth a shot. (no pun intended)

Take it to a gunsmith and get it fixed right. Ask around and find a good one.
