Albert/Joeckel perspective

How would you feel if the Chiefs had the #2 overall pick and packaged it and Albert for Joeckel? Because that's what the Chiefs are on the brink of doing.

#1 pick = 3000 points
#54 pick = 360 points

difference is 2640 points

#2 pick is worth 2600 points

Chiefs are going to invest 3000 - 360 = 2640 points to replace Albert with Joeckel. It could be a good deal for the Chiefs if 1) Albert is out of the league in two years, 2) Jockel is a HOFer and 3) the alternatives (like Geno) don't have very good careers.

If that occurs, and I believe it will, everyone should just chill out and stop with the "Chiefs will NEVER draft and develop a QB" mantra.

i donno broseph....i mean....the realistic odds of a 3rd round QB being a franchise guy are fairly long......I think if teams could consistently turn 2-3rd round qb's into gold, no one would be upset at going LT with 1.A

I love this argument.

"Alex is better than anything the Chiefs have and have had since..."

Big ****ing deal!

Alex Smith is going to lead this team to a mediocre .500 season. That means jack ****ing shit. He's 29 and injury prone. He's not anywhere near the top of the QBs in the league so he's not going to be bringing any silverware to KC.

He's useless to this team now. He's useless to this teams future. He's been useless since 2005.

Didnt miss any points at all.

I've been saying that since Chase Daniels signed the deal and the details became available. The Chiefs signed him to a deal with a specific clause that covers the player if the team benches it's starter or he gets hurt.

That, right there, is all I needed to see to know this isn't another Cassel situation.

I've also been beating the drum about how Dorsey and Reid have gone about filling the qb position by talking about the details of the 1999 draft and how Reid passed on a MASSIVE trade down chance of NOs whole draft AND A FIRST AND SECOND THE NEXT YEAR to take McNabb after naming Doug Pedersen the starter...and we all know about the Rodgers/Favre situation.

Dorsey said they took a lot of heat for drafting Rodgers in the first and sitting him for 3 years...but that he would do it again "if he has to"

That part of the quote, to me, means if they are stuck at 1 and still have Albert...Geno would be the pick, but that's probably hope talking.

I think that recent history proves that above average QB's can be found outside of round one.

IMO, the word "Elite" only applies to a few and even some of those guys were found outside of round one.

Well, Dalton, Wilson and Kaep are just a few in the last two years.

I'd take any of those guys in a heartbeat.

You might get your wish.

In 3 or 4 years the Chiefs will probably be looking to trade for Dalton when the Bengals decide to continue with their search for a franchise QB.

thats maybe 3 possibles out of how many later round QB's total? The book isnt even written on kaep yet...I seriously do not think we have seen enough to come to conclusions yet, other than he is better than alex smith. I dont know much about dalton...but I do like wilson.

I've also brought up the fact that while Reid had McNabb, he drafted Kolb in the early second round (after a trade down) and also added Vick to the same roster. Trades McNabb and starts Kolb...trades Kolb and starts Vick...signs Vick to 100 million dollar deal...benches Vick a season and a half later for a third round rookie.

Andy Reid doesn't get married to crappy quarterbacks.

I've mentioned those things as well but they seem to fall on deaf ears.

As I've been saying all offseason, I'll wait until next year to pass judgement on Reid and Dorsey. Now is not the time.

Did you also bring up the fact that McNabb was drafted 8 years before Kolb and Vick was brought in as a FA.

Kolb was never the future for the Eagles.
