The one thing about Aaron Murray that always sticks out, and pretty much any UGA talent is, "this guy would be going much higher if they could develop their players well."

While his numbers are impressive, it’s another area that impressed the Chiefs.

Murray’s accuracy proved appealing when viewing him as a fit for the team’s offense, Green said. Murray met with the Chiefs scout and quarterbacks coach Matt Nagy before his Pro Day workout, and Green said Murray’s familiarity with play diagrams proved a bonus.

“He understands a lot of our verbiage,” Green said, “and a lot of the same concepts that we’re trying to get done here.”

Playing in a pro system at Georgia will also assist the transition from college to the NFL, specifically the West Coast offense the Chiefs incorporate.

“He’ll have no problem with terminology,” Dorsey said. “He’ll have no problem recognizing defenses. I think he will just jump right in with the rest of them, and as quick at studying and learning as he is, I would think he has no problem picking the stuff up.”

The new Chiefs quarterback echoed Dorsey’s thoughts.

“The scheme I had at Georgia is very similar to what they were doing up there,” Murray said. “So it’s just a perfect fit.”

Murray is going to be a good player. I'm nearly certain of it.
he needs to tighten up his accuracy a bit, but that's probably a lot to do with footwork and can be corrected.

he has sufficient arm strength and the brains to be a good one.

I thought his accuracy was his best trait, no?

I'd say he needs to work on decision-making, something every rookie needs to work on. If there's one thing Alex can teach, its how NOT to throw a pick.

I think Murray is more accurate, and takes more risks - which can be a good thing. After watching his games, he has a pretty deep ball, too, which surprised me because thats something the scouts knocked him for.

Murray is slow. He's going to get murdered behind this line in the Pre-season.

I think he can sometimes get a little too amped up and maybe ignores his footwork. sometimes he as a 'wtf' kind of accuracy throw that should be like 2nd nature.

all of which i think is correctable.

He has great accuracy but he sometimes has poor footwork.

It's not that he can't put the ball on a spot, it's that he messes around with his drops and ends up short-hopping or overthrowing passes he shouldn't.

I'm not holding my breath. Only like 3 QB's picked from the 5th to 7th have worked out in the last 15 years.

I think he's got a shot to be a long-term backup in this league, a Todd Collins type.

It's possible that he could also develop into a solid starter but counting on it seems like a pretty unrealistic thing to do.
