Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

State of Play isn't out yet, and Hannah is one of the flicks that didn't catch my eye. Even my 13 year old daughter said there was no way she'd go see that.

Just a crapfest at the movieplex right now. (Not so) Patiently counting down for Star Trek.

The BBC mini-series of State of Play is outstanding. It's 6 one hour parts that you can just fly through.

Not sure what to expect from the movie but from the previews it seems different enough to be interesting.

To me, Wes Anderson can do no wrong; The Darjeeling Limited was hilarious.
REC absolutely DESTROYED the american remake. The last 10 minutes of REC really messed me up.
Shutter was pretty terrible, if you're talking about the americanized one -- the original is pretty good.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall was one of the funniest movies I saw last year.

I thought Eagle Eye was terrible, and I'm very forgiving. Interesting that you gave it a 6 with some other pretty decent movies.

I watched Slumdog over the weekend, really reminded me of City of God. I liked both very much. City of God caught me by surprise. I knew it had been well-reviewed, but it was outstanding. Slumdog has had more recent hype, and it lived up to expectations IMO.

Darjeeling reminded me of that other Jason Schwartzman (sp) movie, I Heart Huckabees, which I couldn't stand. It seemed like they were trying to be too smart and ended up being too dull. Also that other Schwartzman movie with Steve Martin and Claire Dane, maybe it's just him, although I'm not a big fan of Owen Wilson either.

It could be the style of comedies now a days, Sarah Marshall I didn't care that much for either, while on the otherhand "Sideways" is one of my all time favorite films. A buddy film about guys in their 40's, maybe I could relate to that more since I'm 58.

I didn't think REC destroyed Quarantine, I gave it a 7 versus a 6 for the American remake. Actually for similar sci-fi flicks, I really liked the movie Descent about the woman cave divers and Cloverfield I enjoyed alot as well.

I saw Darjeeling Limited and Charlie Wilson's War yesterday.

I thought Darjeeling had it's funny parts, but it dragged a little for me. I kind of knew what to expect though so it met expectations pretty well.

I thought Charlie Wilson was hilarious. Much better than I expected. Philip Seymour Hoffman's character was great.

Agreed. I really wanted to like that, but it was horrible. Decent idea, but stretched credibility waaay too much. I actually got bored with it the last 20-30 minutes.

That was the motherfucking worst movie I've come across in a while. Manipulative, predictable, and a waste of time.

Nice comprehensive list here are the only ones I disagree with:

I really wanted to like Burn After Reading, I think my expectations were too high.

I thought Twilight blew, really liked Sarah Marshall, and thought Iron Man was good despite the commercialism of it.

In Bruges had the best dialog of any movie I have seen over the last 10 years (Wes Anderson movies excluded).
