He's doing the best he can with what he has. And these guys can do it, I can just feel it. With the way Andy preps them, with their insatiable desire to preform and compete, I don't think there's a team on the planet that can keep pace with our team starting next week.

The gravy train is over for the rest of the league! These guys are one emotional speech away from greatness - in every position...

We're unstoppable!!!!

If we would have done all this crap and not scored then what? You get the god damn points first, period. The only time you get cute with clock running and what not is when you need a FG and you are in chip shot territory. Otherwise you get the points when you can get them.

You do NOT give Peyton ****ing Manning 1 minute 30 seconds to go 50 yards for a game winning FG. Use your brain pete.

I'm not in love with the play calling either. But the idea that you need to avoid pass plays to conserve clock is a dumb argument when you're behind 7 or even 3.

What? Nobody wanted to "conserve" clock. We wanted to eat as much time away as humanly possible while still getting the TD.

Do you try to NOT score if the opportunity is there? **** no. But you try to use as much time as possible. We are at the 20ish...try for a first down and get inside the 5 so that you can run the ball and score. Wait, we don't run the ball from under the 5 yard line.....we like to throw stupid passes instead of scoring.

After the kickoff, it would probably have been about 1:40. You'd think someone might have learned something from last week when Rivers had less time and got into the endzone for a TD.

Plus, it wasn't like an easy play that you can't pass up. Basically forced the ball between two defenders and it was easily knocked down.

You mean the same Denver team that stopped us 4 times at the one yard line two weeks ago? Getting into the end zone is tough. Getting a first down in the red zone is tough. They are both extremely difficult at the end of the game.

You pick the best plays to get you into the end zone. Period. The clock should not dictate play calling, especially if it means laying up. It's not like we have an offense that scores at will. And our red zone offense has improved dramatically the pass two weeks because we are passing better there.

Yep. Nothing else matters if you don't score. You pick what you think are the best plays. I don't fault him there. He shouldn't have punted at 4th and 2 though. The way Denver was shredding us, field position was irrelevant.

No, we don't score at will...which is why I say you don't try to prevent a score. But this notion that we shouldn't try to run as much time off the clock before scoring is crazy. It's like you guys didn't pay attention to what happened LAST WEEK. Literally....last week. We scored quickly and lost because SD had enough time to get down the field for a TD. This week, it was giving Peyton Manning more than enough time to get 50 yards to get into FG range.

Yes, he again displayed a lack of situational awareness. I was really wondering what the goddamn hurry was. And Alex Smith should have known it too, just slow the **** down. That's supposed to be a savvy veteran out there.

I just think that particular play and that throw were too risky under the circumstances. It misses, and game over. We didn't have to get into the end zone on that play. We did have to get 4 yards.

Most importantly, the receiver wasn't even open. Without watching the replay, I don't know what Alex's other options were at that moment. But I do know that before the play, planning a play to net 4-5 yards is a lot less risky than planning a longer throw into the end zone.

Which is irrelevant because we didn't score even though we tried.

How can you build the case for conservative play calling to get us into the end zone when aggressive play calling didn't get us there? In the last two Denver games, we were shut out of the red zone in two critical situations on 4 and outs. You go with your best plays period, and you drain as much time from the play clock as you can. The clock should not dictate play calling.

The clock dictates a lot of play calling in each and every NFL game every single week. Being at the 20 yard line with 2 minutes to go & 2 timeouts.....what is the rush? Instead of rushing in & out of the huddle, slow down. Run some time while doing exactly what you are currently doing.

I'm not really debating with you. I mostly agreed with you. Not a big fan of the play design or Alex Smith's read. I have a problem with people suggesting that we lay up and pick plays that will lay up to try to score in more tries and burn clock versus calling plays we think are our best scoring plays.

I wasn't paying attention to if we ran the play clock all the way down. If we didn't, inexcusable and something I was pissed at Reid at last week too.

To me, that is a different argument than picking plays with the clock in mind. Even if you don't think it's your best opportunity to score right away.
