Late night bullshit: Shitty QBs who had better Sundays than Alex

Did you throw a TD pass? Did you have a QB rating better than 79? Even if you are a shitty QB, then you had a better day than Alex Smith! Here is tonight's list:

EJ Manuel - 16/26, 202 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT - W
Kirk Cousins - 22/33, 250 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT - W
Andy Dalton - 15/23, 252 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT - W
Austin Davis - 22/29, 235 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT - W
Ryan Fitzpatrick - 14/19, 139 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT - W
Joe Flacco - 21/29, 166 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT - W
Jay Cutler - 23/34, 176 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT - W
Tony Romo - 19/29, 176 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT - W

Note: Tony Romo accomplished the herculean task that Alex Smith failed at: Beating the Tennessee Titans.

It's one thing to have piss poor WR's.

It's one thing to have a bad O line.

It's one thing to have a clueless OC.

We have all 3. No QB overcomes that. No one...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Alex Smith had a shitty game 1. He had a pretty decent game 2. Has to get better in the red zone, has to close games, has to win, and has to connect on those lob passes. But using stats to tell the story of what happened is silly. I thought Smith had one of his better games as a chief. His third down efficiency was remarkable and that includes a ton of third and longs. He was really gutsy playing with that much passion in the altitude. He extended a lot of drives by buying time with his legs. Most of the qbs on that list would have struggled with the supporting cast we had out there. Let's give credit where credit is due. He wasn't terrific but it's clear that he is pretty much the entire offense right now. And he damn near pulled it off.

When you get in the red zone, you have to come away with points.

Moral victories are for losers. Alex Smith did NOT have a decent game 2. The last series in the red zone in particular he was ****ing awful.

Is it realistic to expect him to be perfect with that supporting cast? No.

Is it realistic to expect him to play better, even with that supporting cast? Absolutely.

I'm so glad the front office surrounded him with a baker's dozen box of excuses because he's going to need them.

I watched the great Andrew luck blow a game last night. Got rattled and missed wide open nicks.

Ok....i'll bite.

Season one: 14 games, 86 catches, 1,012 yards, 3 TDs
Season two: 16 games, 81 catches, 1,214 yards, 6 TDs

While I expect Bowe to have more than the average of 4.5 TDs, i sincerely doubt he gets the 1,100 yards or the 83 catches.

So maybe, just maybe Clay has a point about the two WRs.
