The bridge (or should it be called tunnel) goes under water to allow movement of ships. In order for ships to pass, this bridge is half under the water. You drive down in the water and then come out on the other side. Truly a marvelous piece of engineering! This bridge is between Sweden and Denmark Picture taken from the side of Sweden.

There's something really similar on the east cost. New Jersey or something, can't remember. Saw it on the History channel.

There is the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel...

Wow. Pretty cool. I am assuming that the walls under water are pretty secure. I would not want to get caught in that tunnel if the damn thing decided to give.

I'm amazed at the technology and accomplishments of our modern transportation systems.

I was down in Dallas earlier this year, and went to check on the progress of the High Five (five level highway interchange). I'm amazed at what we're capable of.

I can't imagine how dangerous the work must have been building it. I think it would freak my shit just driving through it.

That's a good observation. It would've been pretty cool to see it built and how they kept the water out while installing. Interesting.

We need a chunnel/submersed rail system between US & Europe. THAT would be the coolest ever. Saw a show about it on either the Science Channel or History. We have the technology!

It'd be cool if they could make the tunnel see through so you see aquatic life and ships and such... be almost like being in a submarine in your car.
