Keep Gronk?

I'm in a keep up to 4 player 10 team league, with my first three keepers being Spiller, AJ Green and Chris Johnson. We start 4 WR/TE, so a bit more value on that position. I need to decide whether to keep Gronk as my 4th round pick or throw him back. Huge numbers every year, but back injuries are scary. Would you keep him?

Depends who else is on your roster and who's available and what you have. Not enough info to go by.

I use the VPP angle (value per position.)

If there's a huge gap in WR/TE/QB/HB talent you take a guy early that's above his "true value" because it gives you a season long scoring advantage.

I took Gonzo in rounds 3 or 4 for years. HUGE boost to my team.

Considering your league I'd keep Gronk (for once he'll be an early bust and late payoff) and draft to complete your roster.

You have:
2HB's (I hate both your HB's. Spiller trips and misses time and Johnson is damaged goods. Johnson is great trade bait though. Wait for his first huge game and then float him out there.)

If this league is so WR heavy I'd guess it's also QB heavy in scoring. There are a ton of solid QB's this season. Spend your time on HB's/WR's that you can use for trade bait and worry about a QB later...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

He's fine, played after he was nicked up.

Standard scoring, nothing heavy on the QB. The only unique aspect is starting 4 WR/TE (treated as wide receivers). Gronk typically comes in as a top 5 or so WR/TE, so being willing to wait for him to get healthy is my issue.

I love Spiller, not sure why you think he's injury prone. He's been nicked up here and there, but not more than many other RBs. CJ has been frustrating to own no doubt, but he has a much improved OL so I think he'll be fine as a RB2.

I have RGIII coming off IR so he counts as my last round pick, so I'll wait and take a QB in the 9th/10th round.

Gronk is likely to be at least 90% of GRONK by 1/3rd or so into the season if not earlier. If Amendola isn't healthy or the rookies don't pan out as hoped, he's going to be targetted even more by that stiff QB, Tom Brady.

Would think he's a keeper...

I kept him as my 4th rounder and I'm happy with it. We start 4 WR/TE, and I ended up with AJ Green/Gronk/Jordy/Decker/Jennings/S. Rice. So, I've got decent depth to weather until Gronk gets healthy. Good to see he was on the practice field today with the rest of the team. He'll be back in either week 3 or 4 I suspect.
