Restaurants of yesteryear

What Restaurants did you grow up around? I'm not talking super fancy and yes fast-food counts. What distinctive memories do you associate with them?

Mine?

Taco Via-(the lit up menu of the various taco plates displayed on the wall), WhiteCastle-On a paper plate with fries and Pepsi, Arthur Treachers(off Noland), Tippins(off Noland), Perkins(the free toy well), Country Deli(awesome local deli to Blue Springs heated sandwiches on Sourdough buns), Zarda BBQ and Dairy, FunHouse Pizza(of Course)(Dark. Video- Games,Electonic Riding Bull and 25-cent Taco night) Annes Sante Fe.

Keep in mind I never see these anymore living in Georgia.

I don't know if Rosedale was good back in the day,but the first and
last time i ate there was about 4 years ago.It was terrible.

I used to work at a Minsky's in Blue Springs when i was 16.
To this day it's still my favorite pizza.

What can i say about Go Chicken Go?
The one on Troost was a block away from where i spent many pot smoking sessions in my youth. That chicken was greasy and good!

Sorry pal,I can't agree with this one.I had a girlfriend who worked
there and she told me horror stories about that place and its' food.

Let's just say that eating at Taco Bell was a safer bet than eating
at Taco Via.

Nice thread, funny I have not seen it before with all these posts.

1964, Taco Bell, I thought I died and gone to heaven. Tacos and Dr. Pepper, nothing else on earth could compare to this 14 year old at the time. The place was on Kellogg & Volutsia I think, thier second store. The original was just north of Central on West street IIRC.

Last time I was in a Taco Bell, (2 years ago), I did not finish what I ordered for fear of food poisening.

Anyone from Belton know if Lite's Snack Shack is still around?
Haven't been in that part of town in forever.

Oh heck yes, my little brothers always liked the taco burgers, but I preferred the soft tacos and buritos. I always told them to leave the black olives off of anything I ordered. Bellbeefer, that one I don't remember, help me?

That was the taco burger. My grammar was off a bit.

It's still there, but the sign doesn't say Lite's anymore. Just Snack Shack. Ownership change, I suppose. I've never eaten there. Is it good (or used to be)?

Not particularly good, but decent 'teen' food, and comfortable place to hang out.
Most people went there for their 5 mini-tacos [I think it was 5] for $1.00.
Greasy as all hell but cooked fresh to order.

when I was 16 I had to drive to the lake of the Ozarks to pick my grandmother up and driver her to KC.

On the way, on the southern tip of 5 highway between Tipton and Versailles is a restaurant called Lehmans, http://local.yahoo.com/details?id=17843539 , place is every bit as good as Strouds as far as Fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, hard to believe but true.

Hays Hamburgers on Vivion, been there forever and awsome double hamburgers with onions cooked inside the burger.

LC's Hamburgers by 1-29 & 72nd, hamburgers aren't quite as good as Hays, but the rest of the menu is better. Best fries you'll ever have, best shakes & malts too, and awsome pork tenderloines, they are huge and when I was little my mom would buy one and I'd split it with my bro since neither of us were big enough to eat the whole thing ourselves.
