Dorsey: "8-10 legitimate trade discussions" during the draft

I'll double check the podcast later to make sure I heard the numbers right, but it was a brief answer during the final four of an interview with Petro on 810 a few minutes ago. He added that they were extremely active on the phones this year.

Just thought I'd mention it, since there's been some recent concern voiced about how active the team was(n't) moving draft picks around this weekend.

How legitimate could they have been if not even one of them happened? I'm not complaining. I enjoyed our draft. I'm just saying that if there were that many "legitimate" discussions, then at least one or two of them would have likely happened.

Like I said before the draft even started, we will get several offers but we will stay put with ALL our picks. Nobody likes us lol.

Why would he say this now? To appease the fans? He doesn't have appease any of us. And to anyone complaining that he should have traded up from 23 to 21 to grab Manziel.....why would the Packers do that? Clinton-Dix fell in their laps and they would have lost out on him as soon as the Eagles were on the clock. Plus I guarantee you that everyone would have been pissed when we gave up our 3rd to move up and draft him.

And it was a throwaway answer to a throwaway question. For people who don't know, the final four is just petro throwing out four random questions at the tail end of an interview, basically as a joke (the first one was going to be whether Dorsey was wearing a sweatshirt - long running gag between the two).

This was not a part of the main interview, it wasn't some PR point he was trying to hit. It was an off-the-cuff comment. Nothing defensive about it in any way, shape or form. Just seemed like an honest answer to an unanticipated question.

With as few picks as we had, I can't imagine us trying to move up. I believe we heard after the first day that people were on the phone with us to pick up Johnny Football, but those all fell apart of course when Cleveland jumped in front of us.

My response wasn't aimed at you. It was aimed at the people claiming that it was some bullshit answer to make the fans happy.

I'd rather have the trade down.

Not sure what we would have gotten in a haul, but even an extra 3rd after trading down around 10 picks probably would have worked out for us. We might have missed out on Dee Ford, but I'm kind of stupefied that Dorsey would place THAT much of a higher value on Ford than Ealy, Attaochu, or Van Noy such that we'd miss out on an extra 3rd.

Maybe teams weren't offering a 3rd.
