****Official PC vs Console thread****

Well, with the way some threads get going in here, and not wanting to poop in other peoples threads, I figured this is a good way to pass some time.

I wouldn't be mad if a mod went through the last PC V Console posts in the next gen thread and moved them over

I'll start -

I would like to point out the above image that currently the revenue for consoles is currently higher. This is because console games, on average, are nearly twice the price of PC titles.

DISCUSS

edit: I would like to bring conversation in other threads to this thread as they appear, to avoid hijacking legit console or other media threads~

You can also use a xbox 360 controller on PC I do it LOL

I have a pretty nice set up in my game room just bought an extra controller for my PC though not all PC games support the controller I stick to sports games and a few others and my controller works for them all The only reason I use my console is for games that don't come out for PC if Madden and the Show came out for PC I wouldn't even need a console

SOME developers do.

And only because they can make more money on console gamers. That has everything to do with the reasons why console sucks ass and is stealing your money.

So yea, your right, there is no debate. PC ftw.

It's also the reason why console gaming will never die and why console gamers will always see the blockbuster titles. For god's sake pc players had to sign a petition for the next Tom Clancy game.

I know how it feels hoping a port makes it's way to pc. It hurts.

Your next gen consoles are PC's with proprietary software.

You are PC gaming with a shitty gaming PC, that has good marketing, so you pay more for less performance. All the while they control your user experience, and make you pay more for games, because console gamers are largely children and non-tech savvy types who buy right into said marketing.

With the next gen consoles being computers, when is someone going to figure out a way to "unlock" PS4 and XBox games so that we can play them on computer?

It absolutely going to happen.

Typically emulation works like so -

Console release >> Mod community unlocks console and starts modifying >>> emulators are released.

Right now, no one has publicly started modding next gen consoles, but you can be sure lots of groups are working on it.

ESPECIALLY with the way mantle works, you will 100% see emulators soon.

Subscription games are a dying breed.

Most of the MMO's coming out now are free with microtransactions to earn revenue.

I'm actually surprised that WoW still has subs because any time you fart in that game you have to pay Blizzard, but then I remember... LOL Activision!

It might happen but not soon. There isn't even a solid ps3 emulator.

You are right.

the way ps3 and 360 where built, it was much harder to make an emulator, becuase of the actual job of emulating the software to hardware interface.

It will not be the same with the new systems. THEY ARE PCS they are using the SAME EXACT HARDWARE which means that it will be much easier to emulate the environment required to run the software that is the console game itself.
