The Cardinals have agreed to terms with the NFL's most versatile defensive back on a five-year, $62.5 million extension averaging more than $12 million annually, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via sources informed of the deal. The contract calls for $40 million in guarantees, Rapoport added.

Pretty damn good for a safety who has torn both ACLs over the past 2 years and is currently on the injured list. Ty is a major pet of BA's, wonder if that played into this any?

I wouldn't trade Berry for Mathieu and I wouldn't be willing to give Berry the deal that Mathieu just got.

So needless to say, I don't think this one's a terribly smart decision.

I would.Badger is a freak, plays all DB positions. He spent half of last year playing corner. Vicious ball hawk, grabs INTs and knocks down a lot of passes.

We'll see how he holds up.

I see a body that isn't built to play 16 games/season. Granted, Berry's had his major injury (and...y'know, cancer), but I think Berry plays far more football over the next 5 years than Mathieu will. Moreover, Mathieu will age poorly, IMO. His game is so predicated on speed and aggression that he'll go the way of Bob Sanders in a hurry if those lower body injuries sap him of his athleticism at all.

Ty's been injury prone for sure. IMHO his little body can't take the strain. But when healthy he is pretty amazing to watch.
